The millionaire great-grandson of Henry Ford used his influence to force a Michigan church to take down part of its pro-life display this month.
Edsel B. Ford II complained to the City of Grosse Pointe that the display at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church was ugly and a “blight” on the community, The Federalist reports. Ford retired from the board of Ford Motor last year, according to ABC News.
The city responded “immediately” by ordering the church to take down its pro-life sign or replace it with a smaller one to comply with a city zoning ordinance, according to the report.
A photo of the St. Paul on the Lake display shows a large sign that reads “64,000,000 lost U.S. lives” surrounded by white crosses representing the lives of aborted babies on the church lawn. The sign also displays a phone number and website for women seeking pregnancy help.
Ford, whose wife is on the board of Michigan Planned Parenthood, apparently has complained about the pro-life display several times.
“Once again, I am writing to you with dismay concerning St. Paul Catholic Church’s use of their front lawn on Lake Shore Road to place signs and crosses advocating their political/moral/ethical position against abortion,” Ford told the city, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Ford Foundation is one of the world’s biggest supporters of abortion.
Edsel was the name of the car that many considered an abortion…guess he lives up to his namesake!
And there you go. Maybe a pang of conscience over what the missus is up to?
Nah. Probably not.
The Fords we squabbling with St. Paul’s back in 2014 too.
Reminds me of Lord Farquaad from “Shrek”: the “trash” is spoiling Edsel’s perfect world.
The John Birch society has been saying the Ford Foundation has been a communist front group for years.
Zoning laws don’t supersede the First Amendment.
Here’s a link to that story that happened in 2016. I was on a jury trial in Florida where the ex-wife pressed charges against her former husband. She was blocking him from getting into his car to leave. He picked her up by her arms and moved her out of the way and departed. That was the only physical contact, but any physical contact was assault. The trial was right after the acquittal of OJ. We voted to acquit this [young] black man as well.

Sure would be nice if somebody would put a horse collar on him just like the one that went on his stupid namesake car
Read where Henry was a Nazi sympathizer.
And the Catholics take a knee.
The Ford Family has nothing to do with the Ford Foundation and hasn’t since 1966. Henry Ford II said it was the worst thing he had his family had ever done was to fund and form that foundation. They lost control of it, the foundation even sold all of their Ford stock in 1964.
He was also Anti-Semetic
Henry Ford had factories in Nazi Germany, and after the war ended, Ford petitioned the U.S. Government for reparations for damage done to those factories by allied bombings, and he received them. Ford was very reluctant to move his factory from producing cars, to producing war machinery. He was a pacifist in both WWI and WWII. Ford was an anti-semite whose beliefs were in line with Hitler. In fact, Hitler included a section on Henry Ford in his book Mein Kampf. Ford blamed both wars on the Jews. Henry Ford received the Grand Cross of the German Eagle from Nazi officials in 1938.
Ford had factories in the Soviet Union, as well.
Sounds like ‘the little woman’ cannot handle the truth.
So, what did the church end up doing?
Did they transfer that abortion count to a smaller sign or just fold up completely?
I’m not seeing the conclusion in the article.
They ought to make Mrs. Ford drive over to the church rectory and talk about it in person. I’m sure she could arrange the time.
When this guy has his meeting with Jesus when his life is over, he will be asked about this.
The conversation will not go well.
The dude needs to repent now.
Doesn't look like they did any such thing.
"The church was ultimately ordered by Reeside to trim one of the signs into compliance with municipal code restricting billboard sizes. The display will also be taken down on Wednesday as originally planned to comply with city codes on temporary demonstrations."
Looks to me like they made their sign smaller to comply with the zoning code, then took their display down on the date they were planning on taking it down anyway. It wasn't intended to be a permanent display for Respect Life Month.
Make that: “It wasn’t intended to be a permanent display, but only temporary for Respect Life Month.”
