Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 6
Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
Blessed Be Your Name Forever!
You are My Exceeding Joy!
Eye has Not Seen,
Nor Ears have heard,
Nor Can Anyone Imagine
The Joys you Have Waiting For Us When We Are Finally with You,
And See Your Face.
Halellujah!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
In 2013, all my little girl students wanted to do the same song in the Recital. I had to do a lottery to determine which child would be singing the song. There were plenty of other great songs to be done, including the coveted National Anthem at the beginning of each recital. But 2013 was different. Everybody wanted to do the Hit Song from the just-released Disney Movie, called "Let It Go". I couldn't seem to interest the little girls in any other song.
On the surface the idea of "letting it go" sounds healthy and good. When we hold on to hurts and insults, we end up hurting ourselves, perhaps even more than the original injury.
Unfortunately, the Disney Song didn't mean THAT kind of "Letting Go". The story was about a Princess who had a destructive Superpower like the villain Mr. Freeze in the Batman story. Everything she touched FROZE. In the song, she expresses her frustration at having to hold her Superpower in check, so as not to hurt people. Then she demonstrates her Power, insisting that she has a right to "Let It Go" and do whatever she wants. Ugh! It wasn't about what I thought it was about! How about "Beauty and the Beast"? That's a much nicer song for a little girl to sing. (sigh).
The 5th Petition deserves one more look before we move onto the next line of the Lord's Prayer. In researching for images, I found this Parable I wrote back in 2018 about "Letting Go". The dog in the story is Penny the Pit-Bull(RIP). Here Goes:
This morning, as I was walking the dog (although she doesn't walk so much as PRANCE), we passed a small maple tree in a neighbor's yard. Unlike every other Maple Tree in the neighborhood, this one still had every leaf, though brown and shriveled, still attached to the branches. It was a very odd sight, on a freezing February Morning in New England.
The sight of the tree brought me back to an Autumn Day walking the same route, and my neighbor Dotty was sitting on her porch drinking coffee.
"Look," she said, "All the other maple trees have turn color and lost their leaves, and this one is STILL GREEN!"
At the time, both Dotty and I thought it was a charming metaphor for courage and persistence.
Now, however, the dead, brown, leaves are still attached, as the tree never let go even into the dead of winter. Ice and snow have clung to the leaves, and the weight has caused branches to break and split. I do not think that the tree will be able to bud in the spring, due to the unnatural stresses of this difficult winter.
Because the tree would not "LET GO" and give in to the Natural Order of things, it may have to be removed....Dottie's Maple Tree had stood against Nature and the Natural Order of Things. It refused to "Let Go" and is now paying the price.
Nevertheless, God is a Righteous Judge. As we see the painful, slow, revelation of the corruption that has been rife within our revered Institutions, we must Trust in His Judgement to make all things Right.
Like the weird little maple tree that wouldn't let go of its leaves, not "Letting Go' can poison a person's forgiveness. It's easy to hold onto the hurt even after forgiving the transgression. Soon, the idea is living rent-free in your head, the forgiveness keeps getting rescinded, motives are analyzed, and the thing becomes a deadly burden like the dead leaves on Dottie's Maple Tree.
And so, the 5th Petition cane be summed up in three stages:
1. Asking for Forgiveness
2. Forgiving Others
3. Letting Go of the Hurt.
Anything less is like a deadly Freeze on Our Souls.

Psalm 58
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. Of David. A Miktam.
1 Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods?*
Do you judge people fairly?
2 No, in your hearts you devise wrongs;
your hands deal out violence on earth.
3 The wicked go astray from the womb;
they err from their birth, speaking lies.
4 They have venom like the venom of a serpent,
like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
5 so that it does not hear the voice of charmers
or of the cunning enchanter.
6 O God, break the teeth in their mouths;
tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!
7 Let them vanish like water that runs away;
like grass let them be trodden down* and wither.
8 Let them be like the snail that dissolves into slime;
like the untimely birth that never sees the sun.
9 Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns,
whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!
10 The righteous will rejoice when they see vengeance done;
they will bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 People will say, ‘Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth.’

Amen. May the eyes of the Israelites be enlightened to see the True Messiah. May this false messiah inhabited by the spirit of the anti-Christ be revealed.
