Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 6

Prayer

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10  your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
11  Give us today our daily bread.
12  And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13  And lead us not into temptation,[a]
    but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Heavenly Father,

 My Redeemer,

When Things look the darkest,

Help Me To trust in Your Promise

And in Your Word.

Help Me to See YOU,

And not the seemingly insurmountable troubles that beset me.

For You Promise that You Will Not Allow

Anything that is too much to bear,

And You Are My Redeemer!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Psalm 98

A Psalm.

1 O sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvellous things.
His right hand and his holy arm
have gained him victory.
2 The Lord has made known his victory;
he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the victory of our God.

4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.
6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.

7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
the world and those who live in it.
8 Let the floods clap their hands;
let the hills sing together for joy
9 at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming
to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

Yesterday, in my personal devotional reading, I came to the last chapter in Deuteronomy. With a feeling of satisfaction, I moved my bookmark back to Genesis Chapter One, and noted that it is the same season that marks the completion of Torah-Reading in the Jewish Calendar. The Holiday is called Simchat Torah (Joy of the Torah) and is a happy celebration. In 1984, I was in Jerusalem for Simchat Torah and it was a joyous day with dancing in the streets.

Moving the bookmark meant that this morning, I began all over again with the magnificent opening words of Genesis:

"IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH"

It also states that God created man in His Own Image...male and female He created them...".

This got me to thinking about Today's Meditation here on the J-Thread, as I never really know what I am going to write until I start writing.

As I mentioned yesterday, The Lord's Prayer contains seven petitions. I will try to cover one a day, but it may take longer. The prayer opens with an address, "Our Father". This is not a completely new concept. Isaiah referred to God as "Father", and there are quite a few Jewish Prayers that open this way. While Genesis states that God's "Image" is both male and female, the inspired words of Isaiah and Jesus both refer to God as "Father", not "Parent", or "Father and Mother".

When I worked in the bookstore of a left-wing seminary nearly 40 years ago, radical feminists were already trying to paraphrase the Bible to remove any reference to "Patriarchy". Words like "Father, Son, Lord, Master, King, Mankind, etc" were changed to "Parent, Child, Sovereign, Ruler, Humanity, etc". It was very choppy and artificial. At the time, I couldn't understand this aversion to God just being addressed the way He asks us to address Him. I loved my own Dad, who was a Veteran of WW2 and Korea, loved Classical Music, and could build a house all by himself if he had to. And so, even as a modern woman, I found comfort and joy in addressing God as "Father". Granted, some of these feminists may have had a bad experience with their earthly fathers, and carried their resentments into their "religion". I knew that I had been particularly blessed in that department. However, there are plenty of people who have had cruel moms as well, so why this vendetta against Fathers?

Much is made these days about "Preferred Pronouns". Big chunks of valuable time in business and government are wasted doing "DIE" Training. (DIE stans for "Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity). (Is it a coincidence that "DIE" also means to end life? Well, you know how I feel about "coincidences!) Anyway, a big part of that training is getting people to refer to others by their Preferred Pronouns. Since it is claimed that there are over 57 Genders, new pronouns have had to be invented in order to accomadate them. And so, if a person asks you to refer to him as "ZHER, ZHI, ZHEM", you could end up in a disciplinary meeting with HR if you refuse.

Meanwhile, The Creator of the Universe has asked us nicely to refer to Him as "Father". He has even given us the privilege of using the affectionate term "Abba". This is not sexism, oppression, or non-inclusiveness. It is a HOLY GIFT.

The second line of the Prayer is "Hallowed be Thy Name". God has graciously given us His Name and His "Preferred Pronouns". It is up to us to Respect, Revere, and Adore that Holy Name, as directed in the Ten Commandments. That is the First Petition in the Prayer, that God's Name will always be Hallowed, and not changed to suit the times.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

__
when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which
is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen, left that other site

And you expose the hypocrisy of the DIE crowd. Respect one another’s pronouns—except God’s He/Him.

And I saw this transition in a main line church which I used to go to in the phrasing of The Doxology:

From Traditional:

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

To Gender neutral:

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God for all that love has done;
Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One.

Don’t get me started on later versions of Bible translations where “man” “he” etc. are neutered. Reminds me of Jesus’s warnings of “binding the strong man” first before a house is robbed.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

Oh Yes. The Hymnals are much easier to mess around with, since lyrics were written by people and are easily changed around.

As a Christian Musician, I have seen the lyrics of traditional hymns changed constantly. Especially “Amazing Grace”. Politically incorrect words such as “wretch”, “blind” and “lost” are easily supplied with substitutions that are not “derogatory”.
