Russia’s problem is its support of Hezbollah, FARC, PLFP, LTTE, the Haqqanis, and that ilk. And, it’s backing of Iran, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe, and Nicaragua, in particular its aid to the nuclear programs of Syria, NK and Iran. Then there is its ever friendlier relationship with China.
The hardcore leftists in this country that have taken over the Democrat Party fully support the Russians in many different ways. Russia keeps giving them bribes and so do the Chinese, and in return these politicians provide some service to these countries, or they wouldn’t be getting the money. They have deployed what they learned from the Russians and Cubans to demoralize the US, and that includes promotion of anything and everything that undermines American strength. It is Russia that has promoted groups inside US such as the World Council of Churches and National Council of Churches which have long been damaging Christianity in the US, and they backed the environmental movement, anti ANWR, and anti pipeline protests. They may not like it when dumb Americans try to sneak drugs into Russia, but they are all for working with the cartels to encourage drug use here.

Correct. Though I think church MEMBERSHIP in Russia is very high, maybe almost a super majority of the population identifying as members of the Russian Orthodox Church, only 7% actually attend church monthly.
Orthodoxy, as a rule, is cultural and national, not spiritual and actual. It’s like people in Mexico automatically saying they’re Catholic but Mexico still sucks with rape, prostitution, drugs, corruption, etc., with the exception that larger numbers of Mexicans attend church and go through the motions of their religion while Russians don’t bother.
I guess the alternative you have is a bunch of bullshit about biolabs and other nonsense "forcing" Russia to invade.
