Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Exodus 8

1 [a]Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. 2 If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs on your whole country. 3 The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs. 4 The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’” 5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”

6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land. 7 But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts; they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

8 Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord.”

9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

10 “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.

Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God. 11 The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

12 After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the Lord about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh. 13 And the Lord did what Moses asked. The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields. 14 They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them. 15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty Father,

Blessed Be Your Holy Name Forever!

Blessed Are You,

Oh LORD, Our God,

King Of The Universe,

Who Has given us this Day,

This Moment,

and Has Brought us Together for Your Purpose.

We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise into the House of The LORD,

For You Alone Are Worthy,

You Alone Are LORD,

You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!

If the people will not sing Your Praises,

the very rocks of the earth would break forth in song to Praise You,

Oh Father,

Creator,

LORD of All!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

During the 16 years I lived in South Florida, there were several seasons when we were inundated by Giant Cane Toads. These loathsome creatures were huge, and their skin secreted a toxin that was thought to be a mild hallucinogen. The toxin reportedly could also kill a person in large quanities. At times there were so many Cane Toads that the wheels of the cars squashed a trail though them on the highway. They were DISGUSTING.

Now, how it was discovered that the poison on the Cane Toad's skin could cause hallucinations, we will probably never know. And we probably would have NEVER known it, if it were not for the frantic Public Service Announcements that blared forth from our TVs.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
GIANT CANE TOAD SECRETIONS MAY BE DEADLY!!!
DO NOT LICK THE GIANT CANE TOAD TO GET HIGH!

I am not making this up.

This seemed a lot more serious than smoking banana peels. I can't imagine who was the first person who thought:

"Oh My! Look at that! A Giant Cane Toad. I wonder what would happen if I licked the secretions off its back?"

Nevertheless, somebody must have started the ball rolling.

One day, as I was washing dishes, I looked out the window to see Torey-The-Border-Collie cavorting in our fenced-in yard. Suddenly she pounced upon something and began licking. It was an Evil Giant Cane Toad! I threw down the dishrag and ran outside and went after the toad with a shovel. I watched Torey carefully for several hours and she seemed normal. So, it was probably a myth about the hallucination thing. But they were still NASTY.

After I moved back to Massachusetts, I purchased a small Mobile Home in a suburb of Boston. The Mobile Home Park is situated between some woods and some wetlands, and I am on the wetlands side. As my first Spring in my new home approached, I heard the most unholy shrieking coming from the wetlands. It continued through the entire twilight hours and didn't subside until it was dark. It was very disconcerting. I asked a neighbor what it was.

"Oh those are just the peeper frogs. They're so tiny you can fit several of them in your hand. They do this every Spring."

I couldn't imagine how MANY of them there had to be to produce such decibels.

My two experiences with Frog-Plagues are small compared to what Egypt experienced. The Ten Plagues were Supernatural Events, but they weren't UNnatural events. God used an upset in the Balance of Nature to bring about the Plagues. When modern-day skeptics attempt to "de-spiritualize" the Plagues, by saying that the Nile was poisoned by a red-algae overbloom, or that the darkness was caused by the Eruption of Santorini, they are neglecting to explain why and how these things happened whenever Pharaoh hardened his heart. If God chose to use His Own Creation to punish the Egyptians and humiliate their "gods" why not? It was His to do with as He wished.

Both the Giant Cane Toad Invasion and the Over-The-Top Peeper Frog Chorus occurred because something in the Natural Order was messed with. Either their habitats had been encroached upon, they were introduced from elsewhere and had no natural predators, or the birds that feed upon them were chopped up by wind turbines. Whatever the reason, it is an old story. Man, the Earth, and all Nature is fallen, and groans for Redemption. Things seem to be even getting worse right now, so, Look Up! Your Redemption draweth nigh.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 74

A Maskil of Asaph.

1 O God, why do you cast us off for ever?
Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?
2 Remember your congregation, which you acquired long ago,
which you redeemed to be the tribe of your heritage.
Remember Mount Zion, where you came to dwell.
3 Direct your steps to the perpetual ruins;
the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary.

4 Your foes have roared within your holy place;
they set up their emblems there.
5 At the upper entrance they hacked
the wooden trellis with axes.*
6 And then, with hatchets and hammers,
they smashed all its carved work.
7 They set your sanctuary on fire;
they desecrated the dwelling-place of your name,
bringing it to the ground.
8 They said to themselves, ‘We will utterly subdue them’;
they burned all the meeting-places of God in the land.

9 We do not see our emblems;
there is no longer any prophet,
and there is no one among us who knows how long.
10 How long, O God, is the foe to scoff?
Is the enemy to revile your name for ever?
11 Why do you hold back your hand;
why do you keep your hand in* your bosom?

12 Yet God my King is from of old,
working salvation in the earth.
13 You divided the sea by your might;
you broke the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 You crushed the heads of Leviathan;
you gave him as food* for the creatures of the wilderness.
15 You cut openings for springs and torrents;
you dried up ever-flowing streams.
16 Yours is the day, yours also the night;
you established the luminaries* and the sun.
17 You have fixed all the bounds of the earth;
you made summer and winter.

18 Remember this, O Lord, how the enemy scoffs,
and an impious people reviles your name.
19 Do not deliver the soul of your dove to the wild animals;
do not forget the life of your poor for ever.

20 Have regard for your* covenant,
for the dark places of the land are full of the haunts of violence.
21 Do not let the downtrodden be put to shame;
let the poor and needy praise your name.
22 Rise up, O God, plead your cause;
remember how the impious scoff at you all day long.
23 Do not forget the clamour of your foes,
the uproar of your adversaries that goes up continually.

Don't look now, Mary-Lou, but there's a giant frog right behind you who appears to think you would make a tasty lunch.

AMEN!
