Speaking at celebrations this past weekend commemorating Russia's most important saint, the head of the Russian church stood against globalism, referring to global forces trying to destroy nationhood and Christianity, and not just in Russia.

"Today Russia is a powerful state, and it is unlikely that anyone will try to deprive us of our freedom and independence by force of arms. But in our wicked age there are many other ways to crush people, to deprive them of their national consciousness, to deprive them of their faith, to deprive them of their patriotism.
We know that many forces are working today to do just that to affect our people and our country. Why? Because we continue to be different. In "enlightened" Europe, faith in God is banished, educated people are ashamed to admit that they are believers, and that is a fact. But in our country, which has gone through years of godlessness and persecution, the faith of Christ is being strengthened in people. God grant that it will be so.
May our authorities, our army, our intelligentsia and all our people keep the faith in the Lord, the Orthodox faith, by which Russia has always been strong."

To my understanding, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow was an ex-KGB collaborator. In September 1971, while still a priest, Kirill, thought to have been a KGB asset in the Soviet Union & then was posted as a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the World Council of Churches in Geneva.
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow has now has broken ecclesiastical communion with Constantinople: fracturing the world Orthodoxy. The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Ukraine is a division of the Russian Orthodox Church, operates in Ukraine outside the Church law. The big part of Russian anti-Ukrainian propaganda here comes through Moscow Patriarchy.
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Ukraine refuse to serve on funeral services of Ukrainian soldiers, refuse to recognize anyone baptized by Kyiv Patriarchy and said to were facts store armaments and even actively fighting against Ukraine with the firearms in Eastern Ukraine. They have that kind of reputation in Ukraine by trying to still claim funds, some churches, buildings, territories.

There are still many who do not recognize what the party is, and still think it is just a political party with some occasional bad apples (about whom they are conditioned to usually not believe any specific charges anyway, while any old charge is serious if it’s Democrats accusing).
Those have been lulled to sleep long ago. It may even be considered a generational plight. Unlike frogs, who cannot make excuses, a human will stay in their proverbial frying pan, maybe even convince themselves that warmer is better, until they are fried alive.
