According to some, John Brown’s body lies a’mouldering in a grave.

Politics is never more potentially dangerous than when claiming to be based on the inflexible absolutism of “thus saith the Lord.” Instead, Christians should, amid our own sins and limitations, seek wisdom and knowledge for advancing approximate justice whenever possible through providentially patient and peaceful collaboration. John Brown only models what to avoid: violent and zealous self-assurance.

How does this logic/perspective apply to the Christian insurrectionists who we refer to as the Founding Fathers?

Lincoln in his Second Inaugural surmised the war was divine judgment for the injustice of slavery.

And what most people don't know is that in his first inaugural, he called for the passage of an amendment to the US Constitution which made slavery permanent.

When you look on his entire life, you begin to realize he was a lying politician in it just for the power and money, but good with public relations and flowery speeches.

Lincoln was an excellent flim-flam man. That was why he was such a good lawyer.

Oh, and he was an atheist for most of his life.

Looking at the last 2000 years or so of Western history, it is not unreasonable to see John Brown as being in line with Christian tradition, if not Christ’s teaching.
He was a psychopathic, arguably genocidal, murderer who saw himself as an enforcer of Christian principle. How this differentiates him from Bishop Theophilus who burned the Library at Alexandria, the Christians who killed the female mathematician, Hypolita, the Crusaders who killed every Jew and Muslim in Jerusalem during the First Crusade, the Spanish Inquisition, the genocidal treatment of Native Americans and the collaboration of millions of European Christians including Pope Pius XII in the Holocaust.
I could easily continue.

No mention of the murder of Heyward Shepherd by Brown's insurrectionists. And I don't know why.

On October 18, 1859, U.S. Marines commanded by Colonel Robert E. Lee and Lieutenant J.E.B. Stuart, both of whom were destined to become famous Civil War generals, recaptured the arsenal, taking John Brown and several other raiders alive. On November 2, Brown was sentenced to death by hanging with the sentence carried out on December 2nd.
They didn't waste any time back then, did they?

John Brown is the very model of an insurrectionist.

Not some parade goers like Jan 6th.

R E Lee, a genuine Christian gentleman and one of the true giants in the American panoply is being erased from history by evil pygmies.

John Brown was a psychopath who enjoyed murdering people and salivated at the thought of ignighting a race war that would have killed untold thousands. The shit bird that wrote the article for CT is no better. There is no compromise with the woke human garbage.

So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God(Rom 10:17). An autodidact is not a Christian scholar. They have existed in every generation and the result has always been underwhelming. Would you trust a surgeon who claimed to have learned his trade by reading medical books apart from instruction? Of course not!
