Archbishop of Canterbury responds to outcry over declaration that marriage is ‘between a man and a woman’
The Archbishop of Canterbury has been forced to allow Anglican bishops from all over the world the option of rejecting a statement on sexuality when they meet in Canterbury this week for the Lambeth conference.
The U-turn from Justin Welby, the leader of the global Anglican communion and the conference president, came late on Monday night, hours before 650 delegates began arriving for the 12-day meeting.
It followed an outcry from liberal Anglicans and gay rights campaigners over a declaration – known as a Lambeth Call – on human dignity that defines marriage as “between a man and a woman”. It adds that “legitimising or blessing of same-sex unions” cannot be advised, and that “it is the mind of the Anglican communion as a whole that same-gender marriage is not permissible”.
Among those protesting was the bishop of Los Angeles, John Harvey Taylor, who said the statement was “the opposite of the Christian values of healing and reconciliation. It divides, hurts, scapegoats and denies.”
Bishops of the church in Wales said the call “undermines and subverts the dignity of an integral part of our community, rather than affirming them”.
Monday evening’s statement from the Lambeth conference said: “Over recent days we have listened carefully to the responses of bishops … The drafting group for the Call on Human Dignity will be making some revisions to the Call.”

So I guess eventually “Christian values of healing and reconciliation” will have to be extended to pedophilia, bestiality, orgies, etc. according to Taylor. I don’t think he wants to deal with the Christian concept of sin.

So basically the Anglican Church is saying our tradition is more important than not offending the Liberals. And we don’t particularly care what Jesus said about it because why should he matter because he was not woke! Apparently, God’s Laws, are more like Suggestions to the Anglicans and this so-called leader, ain’t much of a leader.

I attended the CofE back in the day (90’s). Played in the praise and worship band. Noticed things were going downhill when we were forced to do “New Age” crap in our prayer group. Same thing with the Methodist church I belonged to. All woke.
Warned people when I moved back Stateside....and here we are!

If they want a blessing on living with their mutual masturbation partner, they are not repentant.
No reconciliation is possible.

What he actually REALLY doesn’t want to deal with, but eventually will, is the Almighty Holy God position on sin.
The legacy of the decadent, vile Henry VIII is at the core of the Anglican Church.
This is why I am now a Catholic man - as much as I love the Anglican heritage. The TransHomoFascist belief system made great inroads with the Anglicans. These wicked sinners seem to believe that the church is about honoring their sexual perversion and wickedness, rather than seeking the salvation of souls and developing spiritual wellness based on all the centuries of church teachings and scripture.
Follow and stand for God’s Truth and not the lies of men and women.
