To: one guy in new jersey
I was a regular attendee at an Institute of Christ the King apostolate elsewhere in the U.S. for many years.

I didn’t support their fundraisers to rebuild the ICK shrine in Chicago because I had no confidence that the Institute would be allowed to remain there.

Chicago is also the Institute’s North American Provincial Headquarters. I always wondered how they managed to pull that one off in a diocese that has historically been run by faux Catholic bishops.

The odds are they will be coughing up that shrine. Bills to pay and all that.

Cardinal George was ok. When he was first installed he planned to flood the Archdiocese with Polish and African priests, a sound plan. Unfortunately, Bernadin’s imprint on the Chancery and bureaucracy made that unworkable, and Cdl George was tame from that point on. We may never know what kind of threats might have been thrown his way.
