Puerto Rico: Did Vatican's Homosex Mafia Remove Bishop Fernández?

Covid injections were just a pretext for the brutal dismissal of Arecibo Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres, 57 (Edward Pentin, NcRegister.com, June 29).

Fernández and Presiding Puerto Rico Archbishop Roberto González Nieves have long had disagreements, for example over Puerto Rico’s independence.

In 2012 under Benedict XVI, the Vatican asked Erzbischof Gonzáles numerous times to resign because he protected homosexual/pedophile priests and supported homosex cohabitations, but he refused and Benedict was unable to follow through.

Of course, Francis was happy to keep the compromised Gonzáles in office who is a close friend of Francis’ partisan Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga who played, according to Pentin, a key role in kicking out Fernández.

Wait, what? The pope is an absolute monarch. So I wish someone would explain why Benedict was unable to follow through and remove Gonzáles. Why not just transfer the guy to some harmless position somewhere?

I think Benedict is a saintly man and a brilliant scholar, but as a leader he relied on intellectual persuasion rather than brute force. He also acted with scrupulous fairness and boundless mercy. He was the antithesis of Bergoglio who’s an arbitrary, anti-intellectual tyrant drunk with power.

I certainly agree. I have great admiration for Benedict. But he did not act when he should have. So I must, with some regret, add “lacking” to my description of the man.

And the same goes with John Paul II. Along with Reagan and Thatcher, John Paul II brought about the collapse of the Iron Curtain. That was a wonderful and a most amazing accomplishment!

But John Paul II did next to nothing when it comes to rooting out the homosexual mafia in the Church. He certainly had the power, but he did not use it. I am deeply disappointed by that.

I’ve read all the excuses. But they matter little. Either you put out the fire, or you don’t.

We need a Pope Patton. John Paul II and Benedict could have stepped up to the plate, but neither did. Now I wonder if the Church can ever recover.
