ELCA presiding bishop issues pastoral message on Roe v. Wade ruling June 24, 2022
Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA, has issued a pastoral message on the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding Roe v. Wade. “Whatever personal perspective one might take on the June 24 abortion ruling from the Supreme Court, it is the legal framework in which we now minister,” Eaton said in the message. “This church’s 1991 social statement Abortion argues that ‘the number of induced abortions is a source of deep concern’ but teaches that the practice should be legal (pp. 3, 9-10). … Overturning Roe v. Wade and placing decisions about abortion regulation at the state level encumbers and endangers the lives of all persons who need to make decisions about unexpected pregnancies.”

Sadly, like so many church “leaders” these days, Eaton is an idiot. Mindlessly mouthing the platitudes of the far left as if they had something to do with Christianity.

While not Lutheran myself, I have many close friends who are lifelong ELCA members. It’s been appalling watching the denomination destroy itself over the past few decades. It’s also been disheartening watching ELCA members either tie themselves into theological knots defending the denomination or seethe in frustration as they watch their beloved church plummet deeper and deeper into heresy.
Lutheranism is a strain of Christianity that is deeply opposed to the teachings of Christ.
Yep. Many people have trouble leaving a denomination which has turned heretical because of their social and emotional ties.
Fake Christians come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors, no matter the denomination.
The Democratic Party as one of several Protestant-flavored religions. Episcopalianism is another. Just as Reform Judaism is the Democratic Party as a Jewish-flavored religion. etc.
Eaton is part of a group of women leaders within the ELCA whose actions indicate that they are interested in preserving their authority within the denomination and using the ELCA to further their own political viewpoints. These goals matter more than actually shepherding their flock.
Putting one’s denomination above the Lord clearly shows that your priorities are not in order.
I think Missouri Synod and Lutheran Brotherhood still know what they are doing. ELCA has fallen off a cliff.
ELCA Lutheran churches are anti-babies and therefor anti-Christian.
LCMS Lutheran churches, however, are for the Right to Life.

So true. Thus, the importance of developing, maintaining, and expanding your relationship with the Creator and your understanding of Scripture. God left us an amazing owner’s manual, but it’s astonishing how many people choose to ignore it.
The PCUSA PRESBYTERIANS, EPISCOPALS, ECLA LUTHERANS, UMC METHODISTS,UCC and other woke denominations fail to understand the connection between being pro-abortion and the lack of kiddies in Sunday School.
This Catholic agrees with you. The time is coming when serious Christians (as in those who believe the same things they believed 100 years ago) will have to circle wagons together.

While it’s presumptuous to assume God’s timing, there does seem to be a “sifting” going on. Could this be a precursor to an Awakening like others in America’s past?
