You are very welcome.
Good Morning, Dan.
What a way to be carried up to heaven!
Hi, Mary-Lou!
One of a kind.
Many people misunderstand Elisha’s request for a “double portion” of Elijah’s spirit as asking to be given twice as much of the spirit as Elijah possesses. However, what he is asking for was to receive the blessing reserved for the first born in inheriting the ministry of prophet from Elijah. It was customary for the first born son to receive a double portion of a father’s inheritance with the rest of the sons getting a single portion. As we know from elsewhere in 1 Kings, Elijah had other prophets who were following him, though Elisha was his protégée and successor selected by the Lord.
Makes sense. Thanks.
Good morning Dan, and Happy Weekend to all! Great how every artist sees it differently. Thank you Dan!
What a beautifully dramatic “exit”! Thanks for the great illustrations, paintings and stained glass window for this momentous event.
Which highlights a question I often ponder: how would I have portrayed it?
To me, for several reasons, Jesus' ascension was the most dramatic “exit”, but Elijah's is a strong second.
You are right of course. It must have been awesome for those who were able to witness such phenomenon.
Awesome indeed. We have many an awesome sight awaiting us.
