Bergoglio dances around heresy but is often afraid to pull the trigger. He conceals his apostasy in footnotes and plausible-deniability interviews with atheists. The next guy might wear his heresy on his sleeve.
If I saw some indication that the church hierarchy care about or even think about the average churchgoing, tithing catholic I would be more optimistic.
