I’m counting on the blood of Christ to cover my sins. Past present and future sins.

Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Danny, you are mixing up Christians that have repented and turned TO God and those that are unrepentant and are rebelling against God. There is a huge difference and you need to know that.

“I’m counting on the blood of Christ to cover my sins. Past present and future sins.”

Indeed.

Romans 4:7-8 NKJV
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven [PAST], And whose sins are covered [PRESENT]; Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin [FUTURE].

And because you are doing so it means you are NOT going to continue committing “sins unto death” because you have repented of sins and accept the Lordship of Christ.

A person who does not surrender to Christ as Lord (confessing the same in word and deed) has not received Christ nor His salvation.

If we commit sins after believing the Gospel, God chastises us to bring about correction and repentance. He will intervene with His children to prevent us from being lost. But those who do not receive such protective and preventative measures do not belong to Him.

Someone who has been born again cannot go on sinning and continue in sin. Discipline of believers can even include premature death, as indicated in the same passage you cited (Romans 8) as well as I Corinthians 11, and other places.

God does not save us to continue in sin. Rather, the certainty of salvation and the present possession of eternal life are contingent upon God’s active work keeping the believer by His power and wisdom. It is through our cooperative obedience, the godly fear He has placed within us, His convicting, correcting, leading, guiding, and instructing us that we are preserved for salvation. It is not merely that once saved future sin does not matter. It does matter. Salvation is ongoing. Obedience is an ongoing requirement.

We have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved. We have called upon the name of the Lord and continue to be “those who call (ongoing) on the name of the Lord” for salvation. Even among evangelicals the gospel message has been compromised today to mean salvation without obedience. Salvation is a gift that is not earned or paid for by the recipient. But there are requirements. Not everyone receives this gift. Repentance and faith are the starting point. A true believer is one who has been justified, is being sanctified, and will be glorified. We won’t be sinless until then, but it is our solemn obligation to obey His commandments.

Romans 6:15-16 & 22-23
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
...
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:13 NKJV
For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

1 Corinthians 1:2 NKJV
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours.

If a person considers himself or herself a “Christian” but does not have the fruit and is continuing to live in “sins unto death” and is not even being chastened by God, he or she need not despair. But he or she MUST come to realize that his or her initial salvation experience is either not real or is incomplete. That is, it is not merely an awakening to the truth of the Gospel but an obedience to it that brings salvation. A false assurance of salvation is a tremendously destructive deception that must be obliterated with the truth of the Gospel.

If you believe in hope/assurance/certainty of salvation, you must likewise believe in the certainty of the fruit/good works that are produced by God’s saving work in the life of the believer. And you must believe in the certainty of His sanctifying work in the life of the believer.
