The Talking Jesus research analyses “the evangelism landscape in the UK today”. 42% say they are non-practising Christians and 16% identify as agnostics or atheists.
The UK Evangelical Alliance (EAUK), Alpha, HOPE Together, Luis Palau Association and Kingsgate Community Church have released the Talking Jesus report.
It “answers what people think of Jesus; how non-Christians view any practising Christian friends they might have; and the evangelism landscape in the United Kingdom today”, say its authors.
Furthermore, a part of the report “also shows how practising Christians come to faith and will help church leaders to be strategic for growth”.
The research was completed by Savanta ComRes, which conducted one 10-minute online interviews among about 4,000 UK adults between 28th January and 13th February 2022, with some supplementary fieldwork taking place between 28th March and 5th April.
They divided the respondents into two samples. One was designed to be nationally representative of the UK (3,115 people). The other were 917 practising Christians. “Following fieldwork, these two samples were combined into a single combined dataset”, they explained.

Makes it hard to care what happens to them. Almost impossible, really.
Why so low?
What does “practicing Christian” mean?
I doubt any of them are named Abdul.
Poll taken in Londonistan?
Doesn’t surprise me having lived there. They openly mock Christians. Was on the receiving end several times.
They adopted socialism post WW2. Big mistake.
One that attends church regularly I assume.
Yes, so many lovely old churches that most Sundays have three ancient biddies in attendance.
True.
A victim of its own success. Christianity made the culture that brought us to, just on this side of Heaven, but man thinks he can make it self-perpetuating.
It might already be a higher percentage will shout, “Aloha Snack Bar” and threaten you for asking.
At the end of civilizations the people abandon their religious beliefs. If it’s any consolation China is the most atheistic nation on Earth.
Math was not my best subject at school but where did the 6% figure come from? It appears the overall sample was 4,032 based on 3115 people to represent the general public and 917 “practicing Christians”. How did they get to 6% of the sample being practicing Christians (which would be a little less than 242 people) from the 917 they had already identified as practicing Christians?
Am I just being obtuse?
Frankly, I’m shocked it’s that high. Seems like it was down around 5% 4-5 decades ago.
Writer is useless. Methods described in https://talkingjesus.org/2022-research/

Apparently 4k random samples and then what they’re calling a “Boost Sample” of 917 practicing Christians.
Their terms:
Practising Christians – those who attend church
monthly and pray and read the Bible weekly
Non-Christians – all those who don’t describe
themselves as a Christian
Non-practising Christians – those who describe
themselves as Christian but who don’t meet the
full definition of a practising Christian
No-religion – those who do not describe
themselves as Christian or of another faith
Other faiths – those who describe themselves as
of a faith other than Christian
As people love to make up their own lines about who is a ‘real’ Christian (or anything else) and who isn’t, keep that in mind.
I wonder about the phrasing ... ‘cuz in this survey apparently 48% describe themselves as Christian, and 45% believe He rose from the dead, but only 20% think He is God?
Going out on a limb here I think they managed to boggle people with their questions. I don’t know how anyone finds the faith to say “resurrexit sicut dixit” and then “yea, but that other stuff He said about I am, nope.” Never met such a duck — or as C.S. Lewis wrote in several phrasings, He’s either crazy, lying, or real. There is no salad bar option.
Makes sense. More children are born in UK with Muslim name.
Yep. A Godless bunch. On the DM comments section they mock with disdain.
Are you channeling Andy Dufresne?
