Liberty University is being investigated by federal officials in the wake of a long list of claims that the school mishandled sexual assault allegations.
The investigation was prompted by a ProPublica report last year that revealed how the Christian institution in Lynchburg, Virginia, which was founded by now ousted president and evangelist Jerry Falwell, discouraged students who tried to report being sexually assaulted.
Some students were told they had broken Liberty's moral code of conduct, 'The Liberty Way' and others were encouraged to pray instead of reporting their cases.
A lawsuit filed by 12 women last October amplified ongoing concerns, which accused the private school of a pattern of mishandling cases of sexual assault and harassment, and fostering an unsafe campus environment.
Chelsea Andrews and Heather Wendel, who were originally known as 'Jane Doe 7' and 'Jane Doe 13' in the lawsuit, recently told Inside Edition that they were both raped and penalized or blamed for what happened by administrators when they tried to report it.
Last week, the most recent lawsuit was filed by an unnamed former Liberty University student who claimed she was raped by a fellow student, ProPublica reported.
She alleges that when she reported the assault, she was penalized by the school for violating 'The Liberty Way,' because she had been at a party where alcohol was consumed.
The former student claimed her report was mishandled and the university failed to put protective measures in place while her alleged rapist was allowed to remain on campus. Her attorney said she lived in fear, and she eventually left the school.
Following the initial lawsuit by the 12 women last fall, Virginia's U.S. senators called for a federal investigation into how the university handles claims of sexual misconduct.

The devil is always in the details. If the victims used really poor judgement and avoided various cues and warning signs ... so maybe they contributed to the violation/s in some way/s.

The article mixes up Falwell and his father.
BTW - the founder of the school - Falwell Sr. died many years ago. It is his son who seems to be the reprobate who has garnered so much media attention in recent years that was recently President of the school.

I love it!! However I took a look at the pictures of these girls and they don’t look like the U of Miami type. Really they look like the kind who would attend a school like Liberty. I just don’t see these type of girls in a thong bikini on Flordia’s beach during spring break. I could be very wrong but I’m pretty sure I have these chicks pegged.

Founded by the late PASTOR Jerry Falwell (not really an evangelist). Never ousted.
The “ousted” Falwell is his son, not an evangelist, but an attorney.

I believe something happened and until the investigation is over we won’t know the full story. I do know for a fact the same crap happened at Bob Jones University, so yes for now I do believe these women.
Plus you must understand that a place like Liberty and Bob Jones U. does not want rapes on their record, parents would not send their daughters there if there were too many reported. I can see a cover up and why it would happen.
Falwell Junior is quite the loser.
