Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 18
Lament Over Fallen Babylon
18 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted:
“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’[a]
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Everlasting Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Psalm 36
To the leader. Of David, the servant of the Lord.
1 Transgression speaks to the wicked
deep in their hearts;
there is no fear of God
before their eyes.
2 For they flatter themselves in their own eyes
that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
3 The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit;
they have ceased to act wisely and do good.
4 They plot mischief while on their beds;
they are set on a way that is not good;
they do not reject evil.
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your judgements are like the great deep;
you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
10 O continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your salvation to the upright of heart!
11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant tread on me,
or the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie prostrate;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.

The Corner Drug Store had a book and magazine rack that was visible through the front door. As Mom walked with my little brother in the stroller and me holding on, I shot a glance inside through the glass doorway. A lurid-looking book flashed out at me with a beautiful woman in a see-through dress on the cover. I sounded out the words and read the title:
"HOLLYWOOD
BABYLON"
"What's Hollywood?" I asked.
"It's the place where they make movies, honey." Mom replied.
"What's Babylon?"
"Now, where did you pick THAT up? Mom asked. "Babylon is a wicked, sinful place from long ago."
Babylon was indeed a real place, and was once a glittering empire. One of The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, was a part of its magnificent architechture, and its Empire spread all over the known civilized world. It also had a reputation for decadence and debauchery, and was responsible for the Destruction of Jerusalem and Solomon's Temple. While the Captivity in Egypt was devastating and lasted over 400 years, the Exile to Babylon may have even been more traumatic for the Jewish People. There is a whole Book of Lamentations in the Bible (right after Jeremiah) concerning the Destruction and subsequent Exile.
This study of Prayer in the Bible revealed several types of prayer which are no longer in fashion. One of these is the "Lamentation". There are quite a few Psalms that are "Lamentations", and many of the Prophets framed their Prophecies in the format of such a prayer. One of the most famous Lamentations, Psalm 137, (By the Rivers of Babylon) has been made into a Reggae Song and a Thriller Novel by Nelson DeMille.
Even though Saddam Hussein tried to rebuild the ruins of Babylon (and put his own name on the bricks), Babylon is more than an Ancient City. It is a Symbol of the Secular World, of Decadence, Sin, and Ephemeral Splendor. Wealth, Fame, and debauchery only satisfy for a season, if at all.
People who condemn Babylon still delight to make money off her. And so, when Babylon falls, there is great lamentation! Even the guy who wrote "HOLLYWOOD BABYLON", decrying the evils therein, made lots of money from his book. And the lady in the see-through dress was Marilyn Monroe. She was more a victim of Babylon than a perpetrator of the system, but became a symbol of the decay. There is a modern day Lamentation about her, called "Candle In The Wind" by Elton John.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Joining in prayer. God bless.
(I read Nelson DeMille By the Rivers of Babylon, very good thriller and I think one of his best books. Complex characters and the story could be happening today too)

One of the songs written and song by Fernando Ortega called City of Sorrows - is a song of lamentation taken from Ps. 137 by the rivers of Babylon. I remember when hearing that it increased by desire to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. Joining in prayer. (Link of song below)
