Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Revelation 6

The Seals

6 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds[a] of wheat for a day’s wages,[b] and six pounds[c] of barley for a day’s wages,[d] and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been.

12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us[f] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their[g] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”

Oh LORD Our God
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
Holy, Holy , Holy, Are You,
LORD God of Power And Might,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
And Yet, You Are "The God Who Sees" even the smallest personal thing in our lives.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Perhars no prophecy has inspired more references in Art and Literature than "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse". Everything from Paintings, Computer Images, Movie Titles, Song Lyrics, and Language Idioms have made this portion of John's Vision a huge part of our culture. The very phrase "Four Horsemen" has come to mean Disaster, Disease, Famine, War, and the End of the World.

The first three are normal horsey shades, but the fourth horse is a "horse of a different color". The early translators must have been so appalled at the color of the fourth horse, that they translated the Greek word kloros, (χλωρός), as "pale", but it actually means (pale) GREEN. Yes. That Fourth Horseman is riding a GREEN Horse!

Early translators must have struggled with this. In our own age, I'll bet every person reading this devotional can come up with two Global Entities, that are up to no-good, whose defining color is GREEN.

The first destructive power has been around for 1400 years. Green, the color of an oasis, was reportedly Mohammed's favorite color. And so, Green has become the favorite color of Islam. It is featured on nearly all of the flags of Islamic countries. It is not until recently that Black or Yellow has replaced Green on some Islamic flags (ISIS, Hamas, etc). It doesn't take much research to determine that a LOT of the trouble around the world these days involves Islam in one way or another. It is what it is.

There were even reports of a ghostly green horse that showed up on a video taken during the riots in Egypt ten years ago. It's Still on You Tube! This is could be just a camera trick or an effect of light, but it sure looks like a pale green horse to me!

The other Green Entity that endangers Civilization is more obvious. While the Bible tells us to "Replenish the Earth" (Genesis), and to be good stewards of God's Creation, and even be "Kind to Animals" (Proverbs 12:10), we are NOT to "Worship Creation rather than the Creator" (Romans 1). The elevation of the noble qualities of Conservation, Kindness, Stewardship, and Responsibility have been elevated to a Religion. Even Top-Ranking Religious Leaders have taken up the Worship of Mother Earth (Gaia), much to the dismay of the Faithful. Whole economies are tanked by this movement, and millions murdered in its name.

In the USA, this movement is called "The Green New Deal". Globally, it is called "The Green Movement". Who knew, in the 17th Century, that the kloros horse was actually GREEN?

You may have noticed that this chapter doesn't have any prayers in it. But the NEXT Chapter does , and it is closely related to this one.
