A disgraced Florida youth pastor convicted of murdering and dismembering a 16-year-old boy he fostered has been sentenced to life in prison.
Ronnie Hyde, 65, was convicted Friday in the June 1994 murder and dismemberment of Fred Paul Laster, whose torso was found behind a dumpster at a Lake City gas station. It took police two decades to identify the body as that of the teen.
Hyde, who was 38 at the time of the murder, denied the charges against him, despite DNA evidence connecting him to the crime.
'I would never hurt him,' Hyde said during his testimony Thursday, The Florida Times-Union reported. The former pastor maintained his innocence throughout his trial, claiming he last saw Laster when the teen, who was upset over a dispute with his sister, exited his vehicle along the highway and disappeared.
After four days of testimony, Hyde was found guilty of Laster's murder. He was issued a mandatory life prison sentence with 1,851 days already served.
He also faces 25 child pornography charges for which he will stand in a separate trial.
Laster's remains were found behind the gas station dumpster on June 5, 1994. The body was missing its head, legs and hands.
The teen was reported missing by his loved ones in February 1995, however, he wasn't connected to the Lake City cold case until nearly 20 years later.
In 2014, the case was advertised on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website, prompting Laster's twin sister to submit a tip that it might be her missing brother.
Police collected familial DNA samples and compared them to evidence found at the scene in 1994, ultimately leading to his identification in 2016.

And the pastor continued working for another 28 years. I wonder how many other kids he murdered during that time.
Perverts are often very violent. MSM almost never covers this aspect of homosexual life. White male homosexuals in NYC have a much higher death rate from murder than other whites almost always at the hands of other homosexuals.

I think the requirements to be a pastor are slim. Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong but the minute someone is a pastor they are supposed a trustworthy individual and can get at the youth.
What a foolish statement. Most child molesters and murderers are not members of “organized religion.” As if “disorganized religion” is somehow preferable.
Better to vow to be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove. Judge rightly.
But they sure are protected by them.
Such depravity and evil. God help us! Some crimes deserve the death penalty. This is undoubtedly one of them.

dont forget- organized religion is made up of sinners just like ordinary society is- and also don’t forget, that many folks claim to be saved but aren’t- they just thin that their ‘good deeds’ save them- they don’;t- they infiltrate religion and sadly when things like this happen folks tend to blanket blame all religion- There are many churches that are very good churches, all over the world, that do tremendous good i n the world- and haven’t an ounce of scandal i nthem but they don’t get the headline news- just incidents like this get the news-

no way. a pastor? evidence must have been planted.
I’m starting to think that any “position”, paid or otherwise, that has men working with young children is a prime target for the pedos. These people must be more thoroughly vetted than anyone, and monitored very closely.
