Good Morning, Dan!
:-)
Hiya, Mary-Lou! ‘Tis always a pleasure!
In #23, Ghiberti tells us the story of Joshua leading the people across the Jordan river (bottom), a landscape of mountains and trees at the intermediate level and then the wonderfully detailed procession led by the trumpets around the walls of Jericho. These are small door panels and Ghiberti places so much in each one, what a genius!
May God bless him for blessing us with it.
Beautiful. Love this story.
Marching around the city day-after-day in complete obedience. Unique in Scripture.
Wonder how old those walls were. Makes one postulate that the constant bombardment of sound waves on the walls of Jericho weaken them substantially with the 7th day “shout” finishing them off.
Regardless, God can flatten any wall—and He doesn’t always reveal the details in Scripture—as, for example, exactly how He stopped the sun and moon for Joshua, or brought the shadow back ten steps for Hezekiah, or arranged the star for the magi.
The first known use of a Sonic Weapon of Mass Destruction!...................
Nice depictions.
Must have seemed strange to inhabitants of Jericho.
All that marching and horns.
That’s why I liked #20, showing the scene from their viewpoint atop the wall.
