Ok, I will answer, in the hope that you honestly want to know the truth. If you honestly want to know the truth, listen to me. If you are just looking for gotcha things, then ignore everything I say.

WHAT MORE must I do, to inherit Eternal Life?

First let me say, you sound like the rich young ruler, who asked Jesus the EXACT same question. Here was a guy, who had kept all the commandments (at least outwardly) and yet, he still had an inner feeling it wasn’t enough, when he asked, what more must I do, to inherit eternal life? The answer to that question, is NOTHING. You can’t do ANYTHING to inherit eternal life. You must do a John 3:3, and be born anew from above. That is called saving faith. Beyond that, there isn’t ANYTHING you can do. People, including you, me, and everyone, KNOW Jesus died for sinners, including you, me and everyone. That’s head knowledge. You, me and everyone, need an 18 inch conversion, from your head to your heart. that would be a John 3:3 conversion, from your head to your heart. You can say Jesus died for sinners, that’s a fact, and it doesn’t help you at all. When you can say, in my heart of hearts, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus died for me personally. THAT’S SALVATION BRO. Do you see the difference between head knowledge, and heart knowledge? One leads to hell, the other leads to Heaven.
The John 3:3 born anew experience happens ONLY ONCE in your life. ONLY ONCE, and it lasts forever. That’s a comforting thought.
Maybe the born anew experience has already happened to you. I hope so, but I don’t know. It’s between you and God.
What about good works? I am glad you asked, cuz I am going to tell you. Good works are good, but if you are relying on your good works to get saved, or stay saved, stop now. It won’t work. In God’s eyes, our good works are filthy rags. We don’t do good works to get saved, or to stay saved. We do good works, BECAUSE we are saved (forever) We do good works, to show our gratitude to God, for saving us from the fires of hell. If we could actually see the fires of hell, we would be so shocked, we would never choose to go there.
I don’t care what church church or sect you may attend, it’s doesn’t matter a hill of beans. I hope this helps. It’s from the heart. If you are honestly seeking the truth, take it to heart. If you are not seeking the truth, ignore everything I say, and continue on your merry way. There really isn’t anything else that can be said. The ball is in your court bro. 😀👍

I was thinking about 3 chapters later: John 6:29

If you are just looking for gotcha things, then ignore everything I say.

If I’m looking for gotcha’ things- I’m gonna let you know...Please re-read and note what I wrote…
"…based on what YOU believe.…"
I simply was asking what you believe- which is not a gotcha- you can believe whatever you want—if someone thinks aliens are impregnating humans here on earth- go for it - so be it… I wouldn’t agree with it for obvious reasons--- but a personal belief cannot be a gotcha . It’s always true to the believe... But I think we believe the same...

I was simply asking you- if you agreed that we believe in the basic foundations of Christianity- Jesus-redeemer-Salvation. I think we do – while we may have different formats for that belief (and that’s why I pasted mine- the Nicene Creed)- I think we believe the same thing. But You think I’m gonna burn. I’m just wanting to know why I am going to burn?- since we both believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Well, yes… I framed my question to you with scriptural intent- but that is what I want to know from what you believe…(again, not a gotcha). I think it is a question, while we may not want to ask it – it needs to be constantly on our minds.
I know you don’t agree with that- but that does not change the fact we both believe in the same core principles of the Christian Faith. (By the way, I have to take points off for you butchering up the rich young man passage in Mark 10... Christ responded to the young man…)

21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him,
“You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor,
and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

Not that is of any concern or distraction in my understanding of what makes me incomplete and combustible...
I was looking for the why- so the question should be restated- “knowing we both believe in Christ Crucified- why am I burning and you're not?
We believe the same- just say that’s a given – yes in my Faith I have to do certain things- but that aside- if the being saved means accepting Christ… we both believe in that. And as you said….

When you can say, in my heart of hearts, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus died for me personally. THAT’S SALVATION BRO.

I also agree with that thought - And ith that I SAY- “I DO”.
And tis the season - you remember- that we commit the Easter Baptismal Renewal: When we say:

V. Do you reject Satan?
R. I do.
V. And all his works?
R. I do.
V. And all his empty promises?
R. I do.
V. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth?
R. I do.
V. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?
R. I do.
V. Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life
everlasting?
R. I do.
V. God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a new birth
by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all our sins. May he also keep us
faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever.
R. Amen.

So I assume you could agree with this confession? - except for the Holy Catholic Church aside- We believe in the same thing. That’s what I am trying to point out – If I’m gonna burn then I have to do or believe still something else… yes- No?
That’s what I don’t get, what difference is there- that I must make up...There is no gotcha in any of that.

Maybe the born anew experience has already happened to you. I hope so, but I don’t know. It’s between you and God.

If it did- albeit in a different form – are we not the same in the eyes of the Lord? That’s my question.

The John 3:3 born anew experience happens ONLY ONCE in your life. ONLY ONCE, and it lasts forever. That’s a comforting thought.

On this – we agree…
But just because I don’t feel the need for assurance or desire a guarantee – or be concerned I could do that something that would disqualify me (St. Paul verbiage)- it does not remove being born form above.
And even feeling that I don't deserve a comforting thought like that, should not go against me.
I want truth.

It's something CS Lewis wrote will always stick with me…

If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end;
if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth
only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin,
and in the end, despair.
