Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Colossians 3
Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Blessed and Holy is Your Most Wonderful Name!
Sanctified, Holy, and Blessed are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages!
Let our Song Praise Your Saving Power,
For You
Amidst the Raging Foes,
Are Our Sheltering Tower.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

I collect Vinyl. Not just any Vinyl, but 33 RPM Records, specificly Blues, Jazz, Rock and Roll, and...most of all...Classic Rock. I take them home, clean them, play them, and either keep, resell, or donate them depending upon their condition, and/or musical taste. I have been able to get a little supplementary income from this hobby, and rely on my knowledge of music to make it work.
The condition of the jacket affects its value, but what is most important is the Vinyl inside. If it is scatched, chipped, or warped, and can't be played, than it is considered "poor" and will end up in the "Buck Bin". There is an actual grading system that is used, like coin and stamp collecting. The real joy is in "The Hunt". Finding a good vintage copy of "Abbey Road", "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac, an early Allman Brothers or Van Morisson Album at a Flea Morket is exciting! It is especially fun in the Summer when I make these finds on a solo motorcycle trip.
Just last week, I went to my favorite Thrift Store where I found a whole bunch of Classic Rock and Soul albums in the Buck Bin. Every one was a Classic: Peter Frampton, Joe Cocker, The Temptations, Steppenwolf, and the like. The Vinyl was in excellent condition, but the jackets were all defaced. Some disturbed individual had scrawled obscenities across the faces of the artists in indelible ink! These weren't just four-letter words, but words that were sexual and anatomical in nature. I grabbed the lot of them and went to the cashier.
She sighed and said, "We did a house cleanout, and there was a whole box of them like that. We couldn't even put some of them on the floor, they were so bad."
Well, I bought the lot, took them home and got out my Acrylic Paints. I painstakingly matched the colors as best as I could and painted over the obscenities, because, the records were in good shape, and the music was wonderful. The colors don't match exactly, but at least the obscenities are gone.
This recent event goes perfectly with today's Scripture Reading. A person may be all redeemed and scrubbed clean on the inside but still talk and behave like a sinner. I have to watch my own mouth a lot, because I associate with Bikers and Rock Musicians! It is very easy to fall into patterns of speech that obscure what is inside.
I also find myself getting extremely frustrated by politics, ATMs, and computers, and can fly into a rage very easily when things go wrong. That, too (Wrath) is like the obscenities scrawled across the Album Cover. I'm still redeemed inside, but outside, I can be a real JERK.
Things were no different in Paul's day. The Zeitgeist (spirit of the age) can be thoroughly wicked, and, in order to "fit in", it is easy to slip into loose talk and behavior. This can affect our relationship with God, and mess up our prayer life. Not only that, but it presents an unpleasant image to the world around us. We have a Treasure inside. Don't mess up the Jacket and end up in the Buck Bin!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 110
Of David. A Psalm.
1 The Lord says to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies your footstool.’
2 The Lord sends out from Zion
your mighty sceptre.
Rule in the midst of your foes.
3 Your people will offer themselves willingly
on the day you lead your forces
on the holy mountains.*
From the womb of the morning,
like dew, your youth* will come to you.
4 The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest for ever according to the order of Melchizedek.’*
5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgement among the nations,
filling them with corpses;
he will shatter heads
over the wide earth.
7 He will drink from the stream by the path;
therefore he will lift up his head.
