Gov. Greg Abbott appears to be ramping up campaign efforts against opponent Beto O'Rourke. The Democrat made a stop in Austin ahead of the March 1 primary for his "Keeping the Lights On" campaign tour, which focuses on honoring lives lost during the deadly 2021 winter storm and O'Rourke's plans to fix the state power grid.

But before the former Texas Congressman began his speech in front of hundreds across the street from the governor's mansion, members of Abbott's re-election campaign distributed empty "fentanyl" pill bottles to those in attendance before being escorted from the event, according to Austin American-Statesman reporter Madlin Mekelburg.

"Lame gimmick"

I like it and I think it's effective. Why do so certain Freepers hate it when Republicans actually fight?

You think it is effective to accomplish what goal and for whom?

Mockery is very effective against democrats. It definitely stirred the hornets nest. Therefore it’s a win.
Taking “the high road” is for chumps.

Betos shindig was across the street from Abbots office. He should have kept quiet like a cuck?

There are few things more frightening than a Texan falling for a Texas tyrant.

“Keeping the Lights On”? The 2021 power outage resulted from the Texas socialist power generation system put into place by then-governor George W. Bush, O’Rourke’s ally. The system places nobody ultimately in charge, or answerable for, delivering electricity to Texas electric customers.

Power lines use public rights of way. Force the franchised operators to provide power. It worked for many decades. It will work again.

I hope the country sees Mr. West as our next governor of Texas.

Abbott must go.

Too bad for Beto, the worst part of the winter in Texas is about over and the lights stayed on. Abbott has 4 more years - that simple.

It is well known humor in advertising is the most effective way to get the consumer to remember your product.

Also well known that mockery is powerfully effective in both delivering and countering a message. Lame or not it is the right tactic to use, especially given how horrible and no holds bar progressives continue to be.

When one side is willing to lie, cheat, steal and use violence for power the other side will not win by just being nicer. Fighting get’s rough, not advocating anything illegal just that there is nothing wrong with using equally insulting methods employed against you.

“Some Twitter users condemned Abbott for placing blame on his gubernatorial opponent for issues with border security happening under the Republican’s leadership”.

The border is wide opn due to This administration. The wall was cancelled.

"You think it is effective to accomplish what goal and for whom?"

Because the little shit Beato in the entire Democratic Party is about destroying the boarder and flooding the US with illegals, crime, and deadly fentanyl. Each fake fentanyl bottle is like a little anchor around the Democrats necks because it reminds voters what the Democrats have done.

Is that good enough for you? Do you get the idea?
