People can find Jesus if they “accept his ways and his challenges, without complaint, without suspicion, without criticism and long faces. In other words, Jesus asks you to accept him in the daily reality that you live; in the Church of today, as it is; in those who are close to you every day; in the reality of those in need”. The pontiff noted that the Lunar New Year, which begins this Tuesday, will provide many families with “opportunities to gather together and experience moments of love and joy!”
Vatican City (AsiaNews) – In today's Angelus Pope Francis spoke about the Gospel story in which Jesus is chased out of the Nazareth synagogue.
In his address, the pontiff said that “those who seek miracles” or “a faith made up of power and external signs” shall not find Jesus, who wants to be accepted “in the daily reality that you live; in the Church of today, as it is; in those who are close to you every day; in the reality of those in need”.
After the Marian prayer, Francis spoke to the 10,000 people gathered in St Peter's Square, noting that in early February, many countries in the Far East celebrate the Lunar New Year, an occasion for many families “to gather together and experience moments of love and joy.”
However, “Many [other] families, unfortunately, will not be able to get together this year because of the pandemic. I hope that we will soon be able to overcome this trial.” Indeed, “thanks to the good will of individuals and the solidarity of peoples, the entire human family will be able to achieve with renewed dynamism goals of material and spiritual prosperity.”
Before the Angelus, commenting on this Sunday’s Gospel reading, Francis said that for Jesus, the way in which his fellow......

Pope Atheist.
I don’t take the word of atheist Marxists to be true. One can rest assured they have ulterior motives.
This guy is a heretic, put in place to destroy faith!
I’m just about done with this guy. I’ve seen JPII in person. This guy is a hack.

“While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.’
“And He reached out with His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ And immediately the leprosy left him.”
I guess this dude was wrong to ask for a miracle. Which, I suppose, makes Jesus wrong for granting him one.
Aww man, so God is now officially out of the “hope” business and now firmly ensconced in the “accept reality” team. Well, that sucks ... so I guess there is no reason to accept Christ now until your dying breath eh.
Hey Frank
Don’t tell me where to find Jesus. I hope Jesus was there for them - the children I knew who were victimized by your group.
Pope Marx speaks
Jesus also said to Thomas that blessed are those that believe and DON’T get to see Jesus (a miracle). Nothing wrong with looking for miracles and stuff, and some people are brought to faith in Christ through that. But I think to go searching for miracles and that is the only way that one will believe, I think those folks will be disappointed. “Okay God - if you are real, heal my mother and then I’ll believe in you.”
Of course, it is a miracle when anyone realizes that Jesus is their Savior and accepts it.
Jesus says, “Ask and you shall receive.”
He tells us to pray for what we need. How He answers those prayers is up to Him. But miracles happen every day.
This pope often caricaturizes faithful believers and then criticizes those caricatures, as opposed to real people. What comes out of his mouth when he is doing this is gibberish.
I took the part about “they will not find Jesus” to refer to unbelievers, but in re-reading it, it could be taken as referring to believers as well.
I know that in times where I’m in close relationship to God it is easier to be aware of the miracles in my life. I think they probably occur fairly often, I just need to have my eyes (and heart and soul and mind) open to them.
All that said, I’m glad that this current Pope isn’t in charge of my denomination!
“All that said, I’m glad that this current Pope isn’t in charge of my denomination!”
He’s not really in charge of mine, either. And I’m Catholic. ;-)
