Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

1 Corinthians 2
God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.[c] 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”[d]
But we have the mind of Christ.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Everlasting and Almighty Father,
We come before You with Praise and Thanksgiving in Our Hearts.
For You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
Which is The Sacrifice of Our Lips.
Great and Glorious is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
The All Sufficient Master
and Lord of The Universe,
Nothing is a Surprise to You,
For You See All Things
From The End to the Beginning
And from the Beginning to the End.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Last night, I saw a particularly interesting meme about Record Albums that were released 50 years ago this year. Many of them were the iconic Classic Rock records that I search for in my hobby of "Vinyl-Hunting", and so I saved the image to share with my mailing list. There was something funny about the suffix on the image (not a normal jpeg), but I thought nothing of it, and downloaded it anyway. Then I merrily sent it off to everybody on my email list, thinking that I was very clever and cool.
This morning, when I opened up my computer, it was frozen on that meme and I couldn't get rid of it! YIKES! I had sent it to all my friends. I wondered if they had issues opening up their computers this morning. If anyone did, I am so sorry. I promise I will be more careful in the future. (If you are reading this, then you know that both you and I have found a way of expelling that meme and getting things back to normal.)
Paul wrote most of his letters from Jail, as much of the Art portrays him. His friends had access to him, and brought him word from the churches he founded all around the Mediterranean. Some news had come to Paul about the Church in Corinth, that there was a case of sexual sin and a lot of disorder and abuse of Spiritual Gifts during the Services. The First Letter to the Corinthians addresses these issues. Even though First Corinthians contains the famous "Love Chapter" there is also quite a bit of passages that are "corrective". Some may even call it "scolding".
Paul then realizes that he may have hurt people with his first letter and sends another one. He is not negating the truth, nor minimizing the original problem, but urges forgiveness and reconciliation, and, of course, Peace. He recommends that the repentent offender be reinstated, and the church once again be united in prayer. This does not mean that 1st Corinthians was a mistake. The issues HAD to be addressed. But, as Paul was a man of prayer, he was able to receive insight from the Holy Spirit as to how to proceed once these matters were resolved.
Some Bible Scholars, especially modern ones, see Paul as a harsh man. But the very fact that Paul sent a second letter to Corinth shows him to be a sensitive person, who really cared about the effects of his letters. Always opening with a prayer, and ending with personal greetings to friends and fellow workers, Paul's Letters offer profound insight into the heart of a man that God has chosen to reach the world for Him.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 4
To the leader: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right!
You gave me room when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.
2 How long, you people, shall my honour suffer shame?
How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies?
Selah
3 But know that the Lord has set apart the faithful for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
4 When you are disturbed,* do not sin;
ponder it on your beds, and be silent.
Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices,
and put your trust in the Lord.
6 There are many who say, ‘O that we might see some good!
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord!’
7 You have put gladness in my heart
more than when their grain and wine abound.
8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace;
for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.

23 Say to Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them,
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
27 And they shall put My name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them.

Love the paintings of writers with pensive looks thinking about what to write. No erasers back then!
