Reading your comments, I could help the think about the musical The Music Man, where Professor Harold Hill was hawking the “think” system to teach children to play.

Ha Ha Ha! I remember that. And, of course, when they "performed", the Parents "THOUGHT" they were wonderful!

I was horrified when I read a similar philosophy espoused by one of my FAVORITE Bass Players, Victor Wooten. Of course, Victor came up with this nonsense after YEARS of playing his scales, modes, finger exercises, riffs, and being able to read music.

It might work for a person who is already a virtuoso, but it doesn't help the beginner.
