Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 17
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[e] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
We Enter Your Gates With Thanksgiving
and Your Courts With Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are God,
You Alone Are The Most High!
Ancient of Days and Rock of All Ages,
The Lord of Hosts,
LORD, Our Banner,
Our Righteousness,
Our Provider and Our Healer,
You are Our Creator
and we are the Sheep of Your Pasture.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

We now come to the third part of Jesus's High-Priestly Prayer as recorded in Chapter 17 of the Gospel of John. So far we have seen a wonderful model that we can incorporate into our own personal prayer life. Jesus opens His prayer by giving Glory to God and recounting God's mighty deeds. He prayes with an intimacy that brings glory not only to The Father, but to Himself. Well, you may say, Jesus is the Son of God, so that kind of prayer may be appropriate for Him, but not for me." And yet, in the very forst Chapter of this same Gospel, it is declared,
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. (John 1 NIV)
When we recount the Mighty Deeds of Our God, we are following the example of David in many of his Psalms, and Isaiah, who extols the Lord in this short chapter:
4 In that day you will say:
“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.
5 Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;
let this be known to all the world.
6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”(Isaiah 12 NIV)
Yesterday, we looked at the second part of Jesus "Imparting" Prayer, where He prayed for His Apostles. In that Passage, Jesus teaches us to pray for our Spiritual Leaders, our Teachers and Mentors, our Leaders, our Military, our First Responders and Support Staff, and all who are sent to guide, protect, defend, and watch over us. This is not a call to worship any other human being, or to engage in slavish behavior or "personality cults". Jesus is Our Chief Shepherd, and God is God, but, there are a lot of people who need our intercession!
The third part of this prayer is the part where Jesus prays for all the people who have been given to Him. That means the Body of Believers from that moment on to this very day...in other words, YOU AND ME. Jesus prays for Unity. (guess what the opposite of unity is. I will give you a hint. It begins with D and has nine letters*) This is His Prayer for "The Church", as I set to music about 40 years ago: (It has a Reggae beat)
I in Them
Thou in Me
That they may be
Perfected in Unity
That the World may know
That You did send Me
And You love them
Even as You have loved Me.
And the Glory that You have given to Me,
I have given to them.
That they may be one,
Just as We are One,
Just as We are One.
Isn't it wonderful that as Jesus prayed, he also taught us HOW to pray!
* The opposite of unity is "DIVERSITY".

Psalm 41
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 Happy are those who consider the poor;*
the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble.
2 The Lord protects them and keeps them alive;
they are called happy in the land.
You do not give them up to the will of their enemies.
3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed;
in their illness you heal all their infirmities.*
4 As for me, I said, ‘O Lord, be gracious to me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.’
5 My enemies wonder in malice
when I will die, and my name perish.
6 And when they come to see me, they utter empty words,
while their hearts gather mischief;
when they go out, they tell it abroad.
7 All who hate me whisper together about me;
they imagine the worst for me.
8 They think that a deadly thing has fastened on me,
that I will not rise again from where I lie.
9 Even my bosom friend in whom I trusted,
who ate of my bread, has lifted the heel against me.
10 But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 By this I know that you are pleased with me;
because my enemy has not triumphed over me.
12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity,
and set me in your presence for ever.
13 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.Amen and Amen.
