"THE OLD GUARD DIES, BUT IT DOES NOT SURRENDER." __General Cambronne
Napoleon's French elite Old Guard fighting fiercely at the Battle of Waterloo was brave and courageous but it could not hold the line against Wellington's (the Iron Duke) British infantry.
At the end, the French General Cambronne was commanding the last remnants of Napoleon's Old Guard and was called upon by the British General Colville to surrender.
General Cambronne replied:
"THE OLD GUARD DIES, BUT IT DOES NOT SURRENDER."
Whether historically true or not, the story presents an excellent opportunity to state a strong Christian declaration:
CHRISTENDOM'S OLD GUARD NEITHER DIES OR SURRENDERS.
NEVER.
NOT EVER.
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword __The Lord Jesus (Matthew 10:34)
The Lion Of The Tribe Of Judah cannot be defeated.
He (Jesus) must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
"The LORD is a Warrior." Exodus 15:3
Victory.

In the epic movie “Waterloo”, the response was a bit shorter, “Merde.”
LOL! Beat me to it! One of my favorite movies!
If you look close you will see some of the same extras in it as were in the Russian version of WAR AND PEACE a few years before. All battle scenes were filmed in Russia for both movies.
There is a great similarity to Napoleon riding over the slain of the battle ground in W&P and Wellington doing the same in Waterloo.
General Cambronne, in real life, denied both my phrase and your word and said that he never said either.
But as I indicated in my OP, it does not matter whether this story is historically true or not
(as long as we don’t present it as being historically true)
~ the only thing that matters is the opportunity to make the declaration that . . .
CHRISTENDOM’S OLD GUARD NEITHER DIES OR SURRENDERS.
NEVER.

Agreed. And in seeming death is ripe for resurrection.
By the way, I have 2 DVD copies of Waterloo with C. Plummer and Rod Steiger ~~
I LOVE that film.
Have watched it more times than you’d believe.
(I wanted a backup copy ~ that film is now hard to get ~ maybe soon it’ll be impossible to find anywhere.)
Best Regards.

By the way . . .
here is my better political edition of my OP:
