I watched the Christmas Special last night and it was great!!
Fantastic. I’ll check it out.
Someone on a thread months ago recommended the series - and it’s excellent!!!
Anyone interested in watching The Chosen needs to read the many negative reviews by other Christians, not by non-Christians or the promoters of the movie. What other Christians are saying is that it is not a movie but a series of songs by groups self-promoting themselves.

Yet bad reviews; griping because they thought they were going to see a movie NOT music? Lol
“What other Christians are saying is that it is not a movie but a series of songs by groups self-promoting themselves.“
The Christmas special was designed to be mostly music .
The 2 seasons of shows have basically just theme music .
“Anyone interested in watching The Chosen needs to read the many negative reviews by other Christians,...”
Heretics more likely. Watch the show and decide for yourself.
That is the Christmas Special not the series.
The series itself is 90% or more non biblical speculation. It is very well written and done. It meshes very well with the actual biblical parts. It’s not perfect and some stuff I found jarring but I’d give it my highest rating. Extraordinarily moving.
Great. Thank you for letting me know.
I agree with other Christians who find the show unwatchable. Far too much conjecture, too much guessing at what happened, too much straight up, made up drama.
Love the show all you want, all I see is hours of conjecture with bread crumbs of the bible truth being sprinkled here and there, lots of bread no meat.
You have your opinion, millions of happy “The Chosen” viewers have theirs. Who are these so-called “Christians” who slam the show? Legalistic moderrn-day Pharisees that’s who.
The series started very strongly.
As a Catholic my enthusiasm started to diminish when I got a full sense of where they were going with the character of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
I really regret the non-Catholic depiction of Jesus’ birth in the recent Christmas episode. Devout Catholics who have seen the episode will know the basis of my comment in this regard.
None of this should come as much of a surprise since the creative team, though reasonably receptive to Catholic perspectives during the development of the first two seasons, was never likely to deviate to any great extent from current Protestant orthodoxy in terms of denigrating Mary and those who venerate her.
Guess what? This show has increased the number of people brought to Christianity and God. God works in mysterious ways. Who cares how you come to Him as long as you get there.
If you want only the facts - read your Bible.
If you want wholesome family entertainment, (loosely based on those facts) watch The Chosen.
There is NO SUBSTITUTE for the written word of God, but I have not seen anything that could be deemed "heretical" in The Chosen itself.
RE: denigrating Mary and those who venerate her
I missed this particular episode. Exactly how did the film denigrate Mary?
Watched both seasons in their entirety. There was not a single episode where I did not have joy in my heart and tears in my eyes.
The series is a work of art. The series faithfully and effectively presents the message of Jesus. And yes, it is entertaining.
It is astonishing to me that any Christian could object to this series because, to use an example, Simon the Zealot is shown as an actual Zealot, even though there is no historical evidence WHY Simon was called a Zealot. Or Matthew is portrayed as socially awkward. Etc.
This series is a gift from God in these days where our culture has been degraded, and where Jesus is daily hated or distorted.
