The application document from the Congregation for Liturgy “does not directly address the former Ecclesia Dei communities such as the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter who possess their own proper law”, writes the Fraternity (Fssp.com) in a December 18 statement.
The members of the Fraternity remain committed to their “fidelity to the Successor of Peter” but also to “the faithful observance of the ‘liturgical and disciplinary traditions’ of the Church in accordance with the provisions of the Motu Proprio Ecclesia Dei of July 2, 1988.”
However, the Successor of Peter has decreed that this 1988 Motu Proprio is abrogated. Further, the Fraternity is dependent on bishops to confer Holy Orders who were just forbidden to do so in the Roman Rite.

Responses to dubia only apply to those who asked the dubia in the first place. Ironically, their actual existence is dubious.
The FSSP has its own Constitution and they are stucking to that. If Francis wants to clamp down, the dubia are not enough to do it, except to the degree that some bishops will use it as an excuse to do so.
It’s not over. The ecclesia dei societies will be having “apostolic visitations” which has never bode well for traditionalists in francischurch.
The bishop of Dijon, France has already done so with the FSSP.
Thankfully, the Cardinal Archbishop of Guadalajar later reversed himself.

Ebb, I do hope you are right and I am wrong, but I fear the Cardinal is about to make some demands on the FSSP priests which is going to create some hard choices for them. At least in this instance the faithful have an SSPX chapel nearby as a refuge.
“demands on the FSSP priests which is going to create some hard choices for them.”
My cousin’s son is an FSSP priest. Ordained only a few years. I wonder how all this is going to affect him.
My Uncle used to be the North American head guy. I’ll hafta talk to him and see what he says, because “Oh, that doesn’t apply to us” is not going to last long at all.
