Savoring the Servant Savior.

Savoring the Servant Savior.

Jesus was begotten of God, a Son and a King!

Jesus humbled Himself and lay down His heavenly crown; He came down to earth in the form of a man to serve and to seek those who were oppressed by sin and suffering and in bondage to an evil taskmaster.

When Jesus was a child, He was obedient to His parents, and we are told “the child grew in wisdom”. Joseph was a carpenter by trade and Jesus served His father as an apprentice. When Jesus was about thirty, He was baptized by John and the heavens opened and the Holy spirit came down in the form of a dove and a voice said, “This is My Beloved Son”. With the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus began His earthly ministry. Jesus went to those who were sick and in bondage to sin; He touched them and in His service of love He healed them.

Jesus called disciples to serve him and when they left their fishing profession, He provided them with a net full of fish so they could care for their families. When Jesus came to women who had been wounded, He tenderly touched them with His voice and the service He gave restored their value and dignity so they could enjoy their service of loving their families, secure and savoring the sweetness of their Savior.

Jesus endured a crown of thorns that pierced his skin and as His blood dripped down His face, he looked at the sin and the sorrow of mankind and said I serve you; I take it for you. God the Father saw the sin and sickness on His Son and had to turn His back on Him. When Jesus carried the sin of the world it was His service to His Father and for the and saving of mankind that He gave up His servant life, died and was buried and then took His life up again and arose!

Jesus secured the stairway through the stars and galaxies to where heaven was located at. The Son of God, who had served, now secured mankind as sons and daughters of God, all who would believe. Jesus told His followers that He had to leave them to return to His Heavenly Father. He told them that He would give them His peace and that He would send the Comforter to teach them and live inside them, to serve them joy and love and to live savoring the sweetness of life in God.

My husband and I served our country in the military and when he retired, we were able to buy our farm and we have planted our family in the soil of American service. We filled our family with the saving grace of names written in the book of life. These last few years we have seen how those who serve the devil did violence and caused sickness. We were able to be secure our farm out in the pastoral rural countryside and our Savior has kept us safe. We savored the joy of shopping to give good gifts, as we wrap them and place them under the lighted Christmas tree, we savor the look of joy when our family opens their gifts. We read the story of Jesus and savor this time of sweetness. I was blessed to be able to purchase a classic oak trestle table and buffet, it was a wedding gift given to another couple long ago and it served some other family. As I look at the wood grains and craftsmanship someone put into it, I think of the tree that had rings of years of serving as a part of our forest. I will get out our Christmas dishes and place them on the server, we all will cook up a savory feast and my family will be served, and we will eat from a buffet of freedom; we will savor those who loved and served!
