In Exodus 33, Moses didn’t know it, but God was about to bring him into a greater revelation of his glory and nature. This revelation would go far beyond friendship, far beyond intimacy. It’s a revelation God wants all his hurting people to know.
The Lord told Moses he was going to show him his glory. “’I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you...’ But he said, ‘You cannot see my face; for no man shall see me, and live…. So it shall be, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand while I pass by.’” (Exodus 33:19-22, NKJV).
The Hebrew word for glory in this passage means “my own self.” God was telling Moses, “I myself will pass by near you.” One translation says it this way: “I will hide you in a cavity of the rock, and I will defend you with the protectiveness of my power until I have passed by.”
What was the great revelation that God gave to Moses about himself? What is the truth about him that we’re to sanctify in our hearts? It is this: “And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty”(Exodus 34:6-7).
Here was the greater revelation, the full picture of who God is. The Lord told Moses, “Come up to this rock in the morning. I’ll give you a hope that will keep you. I’ll show you my heart as you’ve never seen it before.”
Christ is the full expression of that glory. Indeed, all that is in the Father is embodied in the Son, and Jesus was sent to earth to bring that glory to all of us.

Like Moses, as long as we are confined to this finite, mortal human body we cannot even catch a glimpse of the glory of Almighty God. When the prophet Isaiah had a vision of God in heaven, all he could do is cry out,
“Woe is me, for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips dwelling among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Hosts.” (Isaiah 6:5)
When we one day behold the full glory of God in heaven, we will have NO problem at all with joining the hosts of heaven in proclaiming for eternity:
Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!

It’s interesting that when people talk about the glory of God, they seem to refer to something like brightness and shining light.
And yet when God reveals His glory, it is revealing His character. In His economy, His glory is who He is, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
I think a lot of people have a wrong idea about what God’s glory really is.

What a wonderful point about God's glory revealed in His character!
When Moses came back down from his extended "meeting" with God on Mt. Sinai, his face was shining from being in His presence, so the brightness of the holiness of God is blinding to the human eye. Moses had to place a veil over his face the people were so frightened.
And it came about, when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him. So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to approach him. Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers in the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them. Afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he commanded them to do everything that the Lord had spoken to him on Mount Sinai. When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take off the veil until he came out; and whenever he came out and spoke to the sons of Israel what he had been commanded, the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone. So Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with Him. (Exodus 34:29-35)
From https://newchristianbiblestudy.org/bible/story/moses-face-shines/king-james-version:
Now, let us go in thought to another mountain top. Here we see the Savior, with Peter, James and John. There, as the faithful disciples watch in awe, the Lord is transfigured before them. Matthew tells us that "his face did shine as the sun." Notice here also that the word translated "shine" means, in the Greek, to "give light." That divine human face did give forth light, a light so gloriously radiant that it was "as the sun." It was the divine nature within, shining through the grosser covering, the human, and expressing itself in the glory of transfiguration. Does not this help us understand something of the nature of the light which shone forth from the face of Moses? It was a light emanating from the soul of the great leaders so radiant, so awesome that those who saw it drew back in fear, until the face was covered with a veil.
For it is in Jesus that we can see the glory of God:
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have preeminence. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross. (Colossians 1:15-20)

So clearly, God’s glory is both.
I never thought of personal character as having such physical characteristics.
