Since you are a non-Catholic I would expect that you probably wouldn’t understand what is going on in the Church today with respect to the traditional Latin Mass (TLM). Indeed, most Catholics don’t either.

While the focus of the media and the modern Catholic hierarchy is on the “language” (Latin vs the vernacular such as English), the heart issue has little to do with that. The crux of the matter is that the Catholic Church was co-opted by Modernist forces during the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) in the early 1960’s, and a so-called Conciliar Church grew out of it that is a new religion completely.

Upon the close of Vatican II (1965). that new religion created a New Mass known today as the Novus Ordo Mass. Yes, it is to be said in English in this country, but far more importantly, it is an entirely different Mass. In fact, it was designed after the Protestant Mass drawn up by Thomas Cranmer that envisioned the Mass as a celebration of the Last Supper, in contradistinction to the TLM which is nothing less that a re-creation of Christ’s death on the Cross at Calvary. The TLM and the Novus Ordo Mass are as different as day and night—notwithstanding the fact that one is said in latin and the other in English.

And while a holy priestly organization known as the FSSP (Fraternity of St Peter) is currently permitted to celebrate the TLM (and they do so in a very reverential way), there is every reason to believe that Pope Francis will eventually require that organization to celebrate the Novus Ordo Mass exclusively.

If and/or when that comes to past, one of the few (arguably only) priestly organizations left standing that celebrates the TLM and follows all of the true teachings of the Catholic Church that were extant prior to Vatican II will be the FSSPX (Society of St Pius X) They will continue celebrating the TLM as well as continuing to profess the true teachings of the Catholic Church, notwithstanding any directives to the country from Pope Francis or anyone else.

Thank you.
I think I’ll find an English translation of the TLM since Latin is Greek to me. (Actually I’d do better with understanding a little greek). That will help me see what you are describing.

Thank you for the explanation.

I have a few catholic in-laws. I’d be interested to hear their thoughts. I suspect my father in law would have been a Latin mass guy. But he graduated from earth several years ago.
