“It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones" (Proverbs 3:8).
You'll probably live longer loving the Lord Jesus Christ than in not loving Him. When you love someone, you do things that please them. When you do the right things, you are not doing the wrong things, and it is those things that tend to shorten our life span.
“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation" (Psalms 91:14-16).
Earlier in this very chapter, starting in verse 1, we are reminded what brings long life: “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.”
Proverbs chapter 3 could be called the chapter that explains how to live long. We see more guidance on this starting at verse 13: “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour" (Prove 3:13-16).
Okay, happy is that man that finds wisdom and understanding.
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh" (Proverbs 4:20--22).
Maybe the most important health food you've got is your Bible: “It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.”
