Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Proverbs 31

Sayings of King Lemuel

31 The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him.

2  Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!
    Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!

3  Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
    your vigor on those who ruin kings.

4  It is not for kings, Lemuel—
    it is not for kings to drink wine,
    not for rulers to crave beer,

5  lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,
    and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.

6  Let beer be for those who are perishing,
    wine for those who are in anguish!

7  Let them drink and forget their poverty
    and remember their misery no more.

8  Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
    for the rights of all who are destitute.

9  Speak up and judge fairly;
    defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

10  [b]A wife of noble character who can find?
    She is worth far more than rubies.

11  Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.

12  She brings him good, not harm,
    all the days of her life.

13  She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.

14  She is like the merchant ships,
    bringing her food from afar.

15  She gets up while it is still night;
    she provides food for her family
    and portions for her female servants.

16  She considers a field and buys it;
    out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17  She sets about her work vigorously;
    her arms are strong for her tasks.

18  She sees that her trading is profitable,
    and her lamp does not go out at night.

19  In her hand she holds the distaff
    and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20  She opens her arms to the poor
    and extends her hands to the needy.

21  When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
    for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22  She makes coverings for her bed;
    she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23  Her husband is respected at the city gate,
    where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24  She makes linen garments and sells them,
    and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25  She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.

26  She speaks with wisdom,
    and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27  She watches over the affairs of her household
    and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28  Her children arise and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:

29  “Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”

30  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

31  Honor her for all that her hands have done,
    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Footnotes

a Proverbs 31:3 Or wealth

Thank You, Father for this Beautiful Chapter of Proverbs
from King Lemuel's Mother.
Thank You for These Ancient Words,
And Thank You for giving the Female Half of Your
Creation this Guidance from Your Word.
Thank You for "The Proverbs 31 Woman"
"Eishes Chayil", The "Woman of Valor".
She speaks to us out of Your Word
Of Love, Respect, Diligence, Creativity, Business Acumen, Beauty, and Virtue.
In a Place and Time when Women were little more than slaves,
You Give this Wonderful Example of Dignity and Strength.

LORD, We ask that You fill the leaders of the USA with Your Spirit,
that they may make Holy and Righteous decisions.

Bring the Truth To Light, Abba Father,
And expose all the Liars!

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

This Passage of Scripture is the one that cracked open my cynical, radical, feminist shell and melted my heart.

At the time, I worked in the part of Boston that had all the College Bookstores, which I browsed during my Lunch Hour. Since I had not completed my degree, I decided to self-educate, and bought books about Political Science, Philosophy, Theology, Plate Tectonics (a new field at the time), History, Travel, Art, and so on. Little did I realize that I was absorbing the Leftist Agenda with my voracious reading. Nearly every book I read slipped in some poison. By the time the Bicentennial rolled around in 1976, I was a scruffy bicycle messenger in downtown Boston, wearing a ripped T-Shirt, Cut Off Jeans, and my hair plaited in cornrows against my head. I may not have been a full-blown communist, but I was a radical feminist, an atheist, and a very angry woman. Scooting through traffic, cutting through the back alleys, flipping the bird at drivers who cut me off, and into drugs and the occult, I was a real piece of work.

There was, however, a soft, vulnerable creature lurking beneath this crude exterior. Many times, while riding through the back alleys, I would see a white outline of a person on the black pavement. For the longest time, I thought this was some kind of graffiti or "Street Art" until one day it dawned on me.

That "graffiti" was the outline of a person who had been found DEAD in that spot. He was either murdered, or OD'd, or just died...Alone. The white outline was the only record of his existence. That hit like a ton of bricks. First, I felt stupid for not realizing what it meant sooner, and secondly, the sight filled me with an immense feeling of dread and loneliness.

The Bicentennial came and went, Carter became President, and news came from Iran that 52 American were being held Hostage by Islamic Terrorists. If that weren't bad enough, all of my Motorcycle Buddies (including my Jewish Husband!) were claiming that they had become "Born Again" and wanted ME to do that too. Aaarrgghhh! I loudly expressed that I wanted no part of "an exclusive boys' club that oppressed women by keeping them barefoot and in the kitchen!"

That's when Skip (a fellow rider) opened up his Bible and read to me Proverbs 31. Perhaps it was helpful that he chose a modern translation, the NASB, (the NIV hadn't been done yet), because there were no "thee's or thou's" and the language was clear and un-churchy-sounding. I couln'd believe it! Here was something from the Bible, the Old Testament no less, that portrait a Woman as a Property-Owner, a Business Woman, a Provider, A Creative Artst, Charitable, and worth more than Rubies.

Something "clicked" and I came to Christ that night. Skip gave me an NASB pew-sized Bible, which I have to this day.

God placed the Right Scripture in the Right Hands, at the Right Moment for my Salvation.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 32

Of David. A Maskil.

1 Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2 Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3 While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up* as by the heat of summer.
Selah

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’,
and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
Selah

6 Therefore let all who are faithful
offer prayer to you;
at a time of distress,* the rush of mighty waters
shall not reach them.
7 You are a hiding-place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.
Selah

8 I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9 Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle,
else it will not stay near you.

10 Many are the torments of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

Amen. I had never heard of someone getting saved from Proverbs 31! God is awesome. When we hear these testimonies, it builds faith for the salvation of those for whom we are praying. Thank you.

. . . thank you for your testimony and reassurance for those we pray for. Praising God for His gift of grace on your life, on mine, on our husbands, on our children, for those who yet have received. Thanking Him that He is not willing that any should perish.
