I almost forgot, it’s MICHAELMAS! Il Ventinove Settembre.
St. Michael the Archangel is my patron saint!
At my little church, we started praying the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel after Mass, probably a month or two before lockdowns. Two weeks ago, we had a statue of St. Michael placed in an entry corridor (not the vestibule). Today, the statue was blessed and dedicated to our church. It’s a beautiful rendition.
When we looked at closely last week, my husband noticed that Michael has his foot on Satan’s back. However, Satan has contorted himself and is looking directly at Michael. It makes you shudder.
Thinking about it today, it’s perfect to help me understand that Satan contorts and confounds reality so that people may be distracted. This has been an interesting lesson. Satan contorts, but Michael is our protection from these distortions.
That’s wonderful!
It’s my 42nd wedding anniversary today. I think St. Michael has protected our marriage during the hard times, which may be the reason I chose that particular date.
