Australia COVID Crackdown on Churchgoers Alarms Americans

CV NEWS FEED // Australian media reports blaming ordinary citizens for the spread of COVID while ignoring draconian lockdowns and violent arrests have alarmed American onlookers, who warn that lockdowns and other mandates pave the way for a police state.

“It’s those doing the wrong thing driving our record case numbers,” said the news anchor in a recent 9News Sydney report. “Police and health authorities have issued an urgent appeal” to stop a sick Wentworth Point man who left his apartment without a mask, she said. Police issued an arrest warrant.

Health Minister Brad Hazard appears on screen to call the man “one example of the worst of the worst.”

“There’s little sympathy for anyone ignoring the health orders,” said reporter Tiffany Genders over footage of a group of teenagers “caught partying after dark” being chased down and handcuffed. The arrests came with a $1,000 fine.

“681 penalty infringement notices issued in the last 24 hours. More than 400 of those notices were again for people being outside of their home without a reasonable excuse,” said Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys of the New South Wales Police.

The report gave several more examples of infringements, including a construction worker failing to show proper papers during a random check of his worksite by government investigators, while never questioning the lockdown measures.

“It’s getting harder and harder to hide if you’re doing the wrong thing,” said Genders.

Another newscast from the same media corporation begins with an anchor announcing: “A tip to crimestoppers has blown the lid on a church service at Blacktown attended by 60 adults and children.”

The Christian worshipers have “been described as selfish and arrogant,” the anchor said.

“It’s unclear what passage this pastor is preaching from, but it’s not the public health order,” chides Genders.

I am shocked that the Aussies are putting up with this. They have some of the best and fiercest warriors on the planet.

28 Aug: MSN: Chaos continues along Queensland-NSW border
by Joe Attanasio
The Queensland border is currently closed to all people from NSW, save for a small handful of essential workers, creating chaos for families and businesses in the towns of Tweed and Coolangatta.

Some residents were given as little as two hours notice to get across the border when the initial lockdown announcement was made, with many now forced to take up residences at temporary accommodation facilities such as caravan parks...

A Facebook group entitled “Homeless outside QLD due to Border Restrictions” has attracted almost 600 members, with dozens sharing their stories about being trapped on the wrong side of the border...

One woman, 62-year-old Kylie Curtis, described feeling “frightened” and “vulnerable” at the ongoing uncertainty.
“I am stuck here in Grafton... I will be homeless as my home has now sold and I have bought up in Brisbane, but it will be empty until I can get a pass to come over with my pets, all 3 of them, and my car,” she said.

“I also could not afford hotel quarantine or leaving my pets behind or my car, I just don’t have enough money after buying a new place.”...

Another woman said she had already paid four weeks rent in advance but was unable to move into the property.
“I’ve already paid 4 weeks rent on my new house in Tweed but I’m unable to move in as I won’t be able to get to work in QLD,” Victoria Jayne Andrews said...

A family will risk becoming homeless as they are unable to move all their belongings on a flight.
“So stressed over the border closures. We move in two weeks and have a seven-year- old with a spinal cord injury in a wheelchair,” Ashlee Lyn said.
“She needs use of standing frame daily, bowel and bladder assistance so boxes of supplies, special toilet seat designed for her and air mattress to avoid pressure sores.

“All this stuff is being moved to our new house in Queensland which we’re moving to so she can attend intensive therapy to hopefully even walk one day. We have had to cancel her therapy for next week and possibly be homeless because we cant take everything on an Airflite. We have applied for exemption and written to local MPs and they have supported us but still no answer!! Where is the assistance and compassionate grounds!”...

of course, the Queenland Govt would say it’s because of all the lockdowns and shutting the borders that the State has had so few deaths!

26 Aug: Queensland Country Life: Border ban fracturing rural families
by Brandon Long
For many in the intertwined towns along the Queensland-NSW border, border laws aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19 are having devastating effects on families and businesses...

“The border ban being imposed by the Queensland Government is having a dire effect on my children and our family business and we feel we are being treated as outcasts by a state government that benefits from all our business in the Queensland town which we consider our hometown,” Mrs Cush said.
Mrs Cush said she couldn’t take her kids to school because only children of essential workers were allowed to attend...

Parts or groceries?
Mrs Cush said her husband recently travelled to Goondiwindi to pick up parts for the farm using his Z pass - an exemption for agribusiness workers - but couldn’t get groceries as well.

“He’s just come back from town to get parts and I asked him to pick up the Coles click-and-collect order.

“He told them that’s what his purpose is in town and showed them his Z pass because he was collecting parts and they’ve told him he’s allowed to come in to collect parts but he’s not allowed to collect food, because if he wants to collect food he needs to fill in an XN pass.

“They interrogated him on the border as to why he can’t drive an additional 120 kilometres to Moree to collect the part...
