Pope Francis accepted the resignation of the Bishop of São José do Rio Preto on Wednesday, five days after a sexually explicit video of the bishop was shared on the internet.
Bishop Tomé Ferreira da Silva, 60, led the Diocese of São José do Rio Preto from November 16, 2012, until Aug. 18. His resignation was announced by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil.
“The Apostolic Nunciature informs that the Holy Father accepted the request today of resignation from the pastoral government of the Diocese of São José do Rio Preto, presented by His Excellency,” said the CNBB’s statement.
The statement was signed by Bishop Joel Portella Amado, an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of S. Sebastião of Rio de Janeiro and secretary general of the CNBB.
Archbishop Moacir Silva of Ribeirão Preto was named the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of São José do Rio Preto.
On Aug. 13, a minute-long video of Bishop Ferreira da Silva on a video call with another man began making the rounds on social media. In the video the bishop, wearing a striped polo shirt, is seen masturbating.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that masturbation “is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action” and that “the deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.”
Bishop Ferreira da Silva reportedly told the Brazilian network Globo that he is the person in the video, and he believed that its release was an act of revenge porn by someone with whom he lives. He told Brazilian media that he would be speaking to his attorney as well as Brazil’s state police force to determine how the video was released.

I’m not Catholic but if I were I would have serious doubts about the Catholic Church. Furthermore, I believe it’s not just Catholicism suffering from moral decline, sexual deviancy and spiritual corruption but all faiths.
I was a lifelong Lutheran until the ELCA embraced homosexuality. When it started ordaining openly gay clergy and conducting gay weddings I left post haste.
The rot in western society is almost complete.

This is not Bishop Ferreira da Silva’s first brush with controversy, and he has been investigated multiple times by the Vatican for alleged sexual misconduct or for covering up sexual misconduct.
In 2015, he was accused of having a romantic relationship with his driver. Three years later, the diocese was investigated amid reports that the bishop had failed to investigate reports of abuse. He further was accused of sending sexually explicit messages to an adolescent.
This was all under Bergoglio's watch with no reprimand and no punishment. After all, Jorge states, "Who am I to judge?"

What happened to your Lutheran Church is what’s happening to the Catholic Church right now under Pope Francis. The very same forces are at work. The powers that be want to remake the Catholic Church in the image of liberal protestantism, i.e., accepting abortion, homosexuality, same-sex-marriage, same-sex-married clergy, etc. Anyone who denies it isn’t paying attention. This is why Bergoglio attack the tiny Latin Mass subculture. It really has nothing to do with the Latin language or difference between various missals. It’s all about destroying a traditionalist remnant that might stand in the way of “progress,” i.e., the march toward apostasy.

Why would you think these criminals hiding behind the Church and their vestments are specific to any time frame or Pope?
I agree except since the 50s it has accelerated at a greater extent. This is due to the following in my opinion:
Due to not being able to hide their crimes as much
The sexual revolution
Liberal theology being taught and accepted
Weak popes, bishops and priests
Liturgical parish commitees
Monasteries and Nunneries being liberalized
Trashing of Tradition
Not a clear separation nor respect between the ordained and the laity
Many of these types of things have happened in the Church in the past and always cause all kinds of problems. We need to return to the primary reason for the Church - to save souls.

Kindly understand that faithful Catholics are well aware that the popes and bishops are NOT the Catholic Church—they are merely her earthly leaders. Indeed, the Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Christ. She is the one and only true Church founded by Jesus Christ, and as such, she can never be wrong in any sense of the word.
Sadly enough, however, since at least the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) the earthly leaders of the Church have been guided by the heresy of Modernism. They have all but abandoned their rightful mission of leading all men to salvation and focus of promoting the humanist and Satanic mission being promoted by the secular media. Today, it is only the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) that is holding on to the true teachings of the Church.
