America in The Crosshairs

If I did not believe in the Rapture and the following seven-year tribulation, that would not deter me from anticipating God’s judgment on America at some point in the near future. Because I am sure that Scripture teaches Jesus’ imminent appearing followed by the wrath of the day of the Lord, I am all the more certain that the U.S. now rests in God’s crosshairs.

After reviewing a chapter in her husband’s book on the evil in America at the time, Ruth Graham replied, “Billy, if God doesn’t come soon and bring judgment upon the United States, He’s going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!” Wickedness in the U.S. has grown exponentially in the decades since then.

The words Job spoke long ago still ring true today and certainly apply to God’s sovereignty over all nations:

“He makes nations great, and he destroys them; he enlarges nations, and leads them away” (Job 12:23).

With these things in mind, let’s look at a couple of Old Testament passages regarding ancient Judah that we can apply to the U.S. and other nations across the globe as well.

Has the Lord already begun to take action against the U.S.? Yes, I believe He has.

One passage that speaks to me in this regard is Isaiah 3:4-5, a passage of warning to ancient Judah and Jerusalem:

“And I will make boys their princes, / and infants shall rule over them. / And the people will oppress one another, / everyone his fellow / and every one his neighbor; / the youth will be insolent to the elder, / and the despised to the honorable.”

Immature Leadership The Hebrew word for “boys” in Isaiah 3:4 suggests a young lad or perhaps a servant. In this context, it denotes an immaturity of leadership that the Lord said would characterize those in charge of Judah ahead of His judgment falling on the nation.

One could translate “infants” in verse 4 as “malicious young men” or even tyrants. This signifies the inexperience of a child or babe who rules by selfish inclinations or perhaps the whim of the moment. Its usage includes the evil motives of those in positions of authority.

These words aptly characterize those in charge of the United States at the present moment. President Biden’s dementia makes him appear childish as he stumbles through sentences that make no sense whatsoever, expresses fear of disappointing those who control him, and behaves in a bizarre manner (or talks about it). Other nations recognize his diminished mental capacity. Vice President Harris lacks any semblance of maturity; it would be an unmitigated disaster should she become president.

The executive orders that have come from the White House since Biden took office reflect an evil and totally unbiblical worldview. In many ways, they reflect the “malicious” intent that the Lord said would characterize the immature leaders of Judah as His judgment drew near.

Division The picture in Isaiah 3:5 is that of a land where people fight against and oppress each other, with the youth acting with brazen disrespect toward the older generation. It goes without saying that this describes America today. Just as with ancient Judah, I see this as an indication that the Lord’s judgment has begun.

Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand” (Matthew 12:25). Does not this principle apply to such a splintered nation as we see in the United States? So many of those in high elected offices seem intent on using division as a means of destroying America.

The “perilous times” that the apostle Paul describes in 1 Timothy 3:1-5 denote selfish, arrogant people living for themselves with no regard for others. The results of these traits automatically lead to much strife and disharmony, which sadly characterizes life both inside and outside the church today.

Far too many pastors today follow the example of King Rehoboam by shunning the wisdom of those older and more mature in the faith than they themselves and thus cause added divisions in their churches.

In addition to the indicators that the Lord’s judgment on the United States has already begun, we also see evil behavior about which the Bible warns God will absolutely not allow to continue without at some point intervening to stop.

Habakkuk is a book that speaks to us today. The prophet’s complaint in Habakkuk 1:2-4 provides us with a list of items that possess a remarkable similarity to life in the U.S.

“O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, / and you will not hear? / Or cry to you, ‘Violence!’ / and you will not save? / Why do you make me see iniquity, / and why do you idly look at wrong? / Destruction and violence are before me; / strife and contention arise. / So the law is paralyzed, / and justice never goes forth. / For the wicked surround the righteous; / so justice goes forth perverted.”

Violence In America, we now have the most pro-abortion administration in our history. The horrors of the senseless murder of our most vulnerable grieve my heart. Will not the Lord hold our nation accountable as we continue to elect Congressmen and Senators who not only actively promote abortion but also refuse to outlaw infanticide for babies who survive the horrors of abortion? He absolutely will.

The carnage in America extends far beyond the river of blood that flows from our abortion death mills. The violence propagated against children via sex trafficking is mind-boggling; it’s horrific! The Lord will surely judge all those involved in this abomination, which the Biden administration has made far worse with their open border policy.

Destruction and Violence Habakkuk reemphasized the “destruction and violence” that confronted him in ancient Judah.

In America, I see far more violence than that of the murder of the unborn or that propagated against our children in sex trafficking. The destruction and bloodshed in our major cities increase by the day. A few weeks ago in Chicago, thugs pulled a Hispanic couple from a car and shot them. Law and order have all but vanished from our major cities. Murder rates in large cities in the U.S. have skyrocketed amid efforts to defund our police, which have been propagated solely by the Democratic Party.

Iniquity The prophet Habakkuk also complained that the Lord caused him to see much wickedness with apparently no action to end it (v. 3). Why did He seemingly look the other way?

As for America in the twenty-first century, this almost needs no comment. I never thought I would see so much evil behavior and lawlessness before the rapture. The influence of the LBGTQ agenda on our children is beyond despicable. It begs this question: Why do we as a nation continue to elect men and women who wholly support the wicked agenda of the LBGTQ and openly promote transgenderism for seven-year-old children?

Behavior that would have outraged the majority of Americans sixty years ago has now become commonplace and accepted by many as normal. We see the words of Romans 1:18-32 springing to life. As God gives the wicked over to increased forms of depravity, many have reached the end that Paul talks about in verse 32, “Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” This is life among so many in the U.S. today.

Injustice The words of Habakkuk 1:4 perfectly portray life in the U.S., “So the law is paralyzed, / and justice never goes forth. / For the wicked surround the righteous; / so justice goes forth perverted.”

Although these words speak to conditions in ancient Judah, it’s as if the prophet was depicting life in the twenty-first century.

Due to the fact that thefts under $950 are no longer prosecuted in San Francisco, California, looting has become commonplace. Stores in the city no longer report stealing to the police, and store clerks do not dare risk their lives to stop it. Many retailers are going out of business or closing shop due to widespread stealing. Target recently reported that they are closing all stores in the area at 6 p.m. as a result.

In America, many of the guilty are set free or never charged for their crimes. On the other hand, people lose their jobs or face lawsuits for defending what the Bible says about marriage and sexuality. The rich and powerful never face the consequences for their criminal behavior, for which less influential people spend years in jail for crimes that the elite commit with no repercussions.

The Lord’s response to what He sees in the U.S. would most likely be quite similar to what he told Habakkuk. Then, God assured His prophet that He indeed saw the wickedness and bloodshed and that judgment was already on the way in the form of the Chaldeans (the Babylonians) who would later destroy Jerusalem and the temple. This occurred a decade or two later, perhaps while the prophet was still alive.

Skipping ahead to the twenty-first century, the Lord indeed sees the bloodshed, deception, oppression, and vileness rampant in the U.S. And I believe He will intervene much sooner than most imagine; His answer is already on the way. He will not let the wickedness of our day continue unchecked.

Scripture assures us that God will someday pour out His wrath on sinful humanity in what it refers to as the day of the Lord. The book of Revelation adds more detail to this time in what we refer to as the tribulation, a seven-year time of horror upon the earth.

The New Testament assures believers, however, that the Lord will take us home to heaven before the start of this time of wrath upon the earth. In 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and 5:9-10, the apostle Paul confirms that Jesus will come for His Church before the onset of the terrible day of the Lord (see Isaiah 13:9-13; 24:3-20), which includes all of the tribulation period.

How much longer will the Lord’s patience endure in view of the senseless bloodshed and exceeding wickedness that grows worse by the day? How much more distress will we see before our departure from this world?

I am certain, however, that judgment is coming. Evil people might enjoy success for a little while longer, but God will have the final word (Psalm 37:7-15). He always does.

Please know as believers, our hope rests in Jesus’ imminent appearing (Titus 2:11-14; John 14:1-3). As we see God’s judgment start to fall on the nations of the world, we rest in His promise to deliver us before He pours out His wrath on the Christ-rejecting world (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10).

It would be very wrong to set a date for the Rapture, but one would be equally mistaken to assume that it will not happen in the very near future.

I was watching this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdzW-S8MwbI) the other day as I prepare to teach my students units on Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World. My own personal bible studies have me perusing many end-time scriptures, recently this one in 2Thes 2:7-12

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

God's mercy and grace (the proof of the love of God) is still available to all, but there has been such a number done on the minds of people through the use of the means of "mass psychosis" (watch the video which hints at the old totalitarian tricks now packaged for our times) that "receiving the truth" today has been made more difficult by the vast swirl of misinformation, contradiction, lies and deceit. Is it that people's minds are no longer able to receive the truth, and are, instead, primed more for the ultimate delusion which precedes the Lord's return?

Here is a list of Judgements against America following attempts on behalf of America to part God’s land of Israel:

1. October 30, 1991: The Perfect Storm—As President George H. W. Bush is opening the Madrid (Spain) Conference to consider “land for peace” in Israel’s Middle East role, the “perfect storm” develops in the North Atlantic, creating the largest waves ever recorded in that region. The storm travels 1000 miles from “east to west” instead of the normal “west to east” pattern and crashes into the New England Coast. Thirty-five foot waves crash into the Kennebunkport home of President Bush. (This also touched off massive tornado action across the Midwest in “Tornado-Alley”. The movie “The Perfect Storm” was made from this storm.)

2. August 23, 1992: Hurricane Andrew—When the Madrid Conference moves to Washington DC and the peace talks resume, Hurricane Andrew, the worst natural disaster ever to hit America, comes ashore and produces an estimated $30 billion in damage and leaving 180,000 homeless in Florida.

3. January 16, 1994: Northridge Earthquake—President Bill Clinton meets with Syria’s President Hafez el-Assad in Geneva. They talk about a peace agreement with Israel that includes giving up the Golan Heights. Within 24 hours, a powerful 6.9 earthquake rocks Southern California, This quake, centered in Northridge, becomes the second most destructive natural disaster to hit the United States, behind Hurricane Andrew,

4. January 21, 1998: Lewinsky Scandal—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with President Clinton at the White House and is coldly received. Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright refuse to have lunch with him. Shortly afterwards on that day, the Monica Lewinsky scandal breaks into the mass media and begins to occupy a major portion of Clinton’s time.

5. September 28, 1998: Hurricane George—As Secretary of State Albright works on the final details of an agreement in which Israel would give up 13 percent of Yesha (Judah and Samaria), Hurricane George slams into the United States Gulf Coast with 110 mph winds and gusts up to 175 mph. The hurricane hits the coast and stalled. On September 28, Clinton meets with Yasser Arafat and Netanyahu at the White House to finalize this land deal. Later, Arafat addresses the United Nations about declaring an independent Palestinian state by May 1999, as Hurricane George pounds the Gulf Coast, causing $1 billion in damage. At the exact time that Arafat departs the country, the storm begins to dissipate.

6. October 15-22, 1998: Texas Flooded—On October 15, 1998, Arafat and Netanyahu meet at the Wye River Plantation in Maryland. The talks are scheduled to last five days with the focus on Israel giving up 13 percent of Yesha. The talks are extended and conclude on October 23. On October 17, awesome rains and tornadoes hit southern Texas. The San Antonio area is deluged with rain. The rain and flooding in Texas continue until October 22 and then subside. The floods ravage 25 percent of Texas and leave over one billion dollars in damage. On October 21, Clinton declares this section of Texas a major disaster area.

7. November 30, 1998: Market Capitalization Evaporates—Arafat comes to Washington again to meet with President Clinton to raise money for a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. A total of 42 other nations were represented in Washington. All the nations agreed to give Arafat $3 billion in aid. Clinton promised $400 million, and the European nations $1.7 billion. On the same day, the Dow Jones average drops 216 points, and on December 1, the European Market had its third worst day in history. Hundreds of billions of market capitalization were wiped out in the U.S. and Europe.

8. December 12, 1998: Clinton is Impeached—As Clinton lands in the Palestinian-controlled section of Israel to discuss the “land for peace” process, the House of Representatives votes four articles of impeachment against him.

9. May 3, 1999: The Powerful Super Tornado—On the day that Yasser Arafat is scheduled to declare a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital, the most powerful tornado storm system ever to hit the United States sweeps across Oklahoma and Kansas. The winds are clocked at 316 mph the fastest wind speed ever recorded. The declaration is postponed to December 1999 at the request of President Clinton, whose letter to Arafat encourages him in his “aspirations for his own land.” He also writes that the Palestinians have a right to “determine their own future on their own land” and that they deserve to “live free, today, tomorrow and forever.”

10. Week of October 11: Hurricane, Earthquake and Dow Collapse—As Jewish settlers in 15 West Bank (Israel) settlements are evicted from the covenant land in Israel, the Dow-Jones financial averages lose 5.7 percent in the worst week since October 1989. On October 15 the Dow lost 266 points, and a hurricane slams into North Carolina. On the next morning, October 16, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake rocks the southwest in the fifth most powerful earthquake in 20th Century. The earthquake was centered in the California desert and did little damage but was felt in three states.

11. March 14 2010. “Now the US has sent its VP and Secretary of State to force Israel to split the country by making sure the “Palestinians” have a contiguous state and yet there is no other way to do that without cutting Israel in half. In the news we hear of the coming BIG earthquake in California – but little is said of the New Madrid Fault that starts in Missouri and goes south to Mississippi. This could cut the US in half causing millions to be affected and many killed. No, I am not saying that if the US does this or that then this will happen. But what I am saying is that God has His finger on many triggers. All of them have been set in place to bring about His End Time Prophetic Word. This would certainly be a possibility considering what we have witnessed over the past few years. One thing is certain, God will always do what He says, Gen:12:3.”

Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
