Concerned Russian government officials have announced they will invest billions of rubles in winning over young people with righteous, wholesome content online. A new fund is being made available to back the saintly project.
Moscow’s federal treasury revealed on Tuesday that an extra seven billion rubles will be handed over to the Institute for the Development of the Internet by the end of the year, taking its funding to a total of 10 billion rubles (over $135 million).
That cash, the authorities say, will be used to bankroll “the production of state-backed content, including material aimed at the formation of civic identity and spiritual and moral values among young people.” The institute has described its mission as acting as an interface between the government and internet giants, and shaping the formation of the online world in Russia.
President Vladimir Putin has previously expressed concern about the potential for youngsters to encounter harmful content online, with little accountability being shown by tech firms. Speaking to a group of teachers in February, Putin said that “these platforms are, of course, primarily businesses … and what is the primary concern of a business? Making a profit. They don’t care if this content or that content causes harm for the people at whom it is directed. After all, these modern IT companies are more and more beginning to control people’s consciousness.”

Hard to argue with that.
So this is where all the Russian “reject modernity, embrace tradition” memes sprang from?
Not a bad effort, if so.
Of course a lot of the blame for this falls on the feet of the Bolsheviks, it still impacts the Russians 30+ years after the fall of The Soviet Union.
Should the state really be active and involved in producing good moral content for young people?
Perhaps a better question is should the state be active and involved in producing immoral socially destructive content for young people? Like our government does.
And of course we must consider this quote.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis
Meanwhile the communist have been working for decades to destroy all spiritual and moral content in western culture. In order to cause them to fall.
Sure - we have the same thing here, its called Tindr, Instagram and Tik Tok
This is what the Russians are afraid will return to Russia from us.
Russia, Hungary, Poland, etc., may be the saviors of western civilization.
Been seeing this from troll farms on 4chan and other forums for quite some time.
Our movies and music become increasingly vulgar, and they are doing this. What does this say about the direction our nation is going in?
I just wish there was a way for Poland and Russia to get past their historical differences, but it won’t be easy.
Poland is going to have to do it on their own, and become much stronger militarily, and forge an alliance with the other Central European States.
And even now Poland is starting to get poisoned with US culture. Rainbow flags are now popping up in Warsaw, unheard of, just a few years ago.
It all started here in 1965.
Demographics is destiny.
Good.
Putin, like most older Russians, knows that Russia is at the end of its road. It is a dying, godless, hopeless, socialist nightmare. Russia will not survive the century without a spiritual revival. Even though Putin’s turn to its Christian history is being driven for purely utilitarian reasons, it will have a profound effect. The downside is that the Legally sanctioned Russian Orthodox Church is a tool of the State. The upside is that the Beautiful Cathedrals, now being restored and re-consecrated, resonate with the power of centuries of a Christian Tradition that lives deep in the psyche of the Russian people. If it can be liberated from its ancient prejudices and falsehoods, the Russian people just may be able to crawl their way out of the Godless Pit they are trapped in.
When the hell did the Russians become the good guys? What kind of world am I living in?
Solzhenitsyn warned us this would happen. One day Russia would abandon Communism, and the West would embrace it.
Compare that to what we’ve done and are doing — expelling God from public schools and the public square.
Don’t know why but this made me think of the Davey And Goliath show when i was a kid, I loved that show so much!

But Communism is just a Utopian carrot that organized criminals dangle in front of Useful Idiots to entice them into destroying the lawful government that, ironically, protects Useful Idiots from organized criminals who dangle carrots on sticks.

that is one of the most profoundly sad, true and funny (in a dark dystopian way) definitions of communism I’ve ever heard!
