[French and Italian] Bishops Back State-Decreed Vaccine Apartheid

Evoking Nuremberg, Jewish writer slams prelates for Holocaust hypocrisy

PARIS (ChurchMilitant.com) - As thousands take to the streets protesting vaccine passports, bishops in France and Italy are endorsing a state-sponsored vaccine apartheid that robs unvaccinated citizens of fundamental freedoms and bars participation in essential activities.

"By making it compulsory for some and by imposing a health pass for certain activities, the government is fulfilling its legitimate responsibilities under Parliament," the Episcopal Conference of France (CEF) said.

Defending the right of the State to impose "restrictions on those who refuse the vaccine," French bishops cautioned against "confusing the freedom to travel with the freedom to exist or go to the cinema or café and the freedom to praise God or not to praise Him."

On July 12, France's president Emmanuel Macron announced draconian restrictions requiring individuals over 12 to produce a health pass to enter a shopping center, cinema, theater, museum, concert, show, festival, theme park or amusement park.

Yellow Star: Protest Symbol

The bishops objected to the "yellow star" worn by some protestors, as French President Emmanuel Macron filed a legal suit against billboard operator Michel-Ange Flori for portraying him as Adolf Hitler, French media reported Wednesday.

From August, the restrictions will be extended to restaurants, cafés, hospitals and public transport.

Is it any wonder why so many people hate and despise the clergy.

These “bishops” are worse than the mullahs. I spit on all of them.

They speak with the same authority as our USCCB and with same appeal to the traditional teachings of the faith. In other words pfffttt.

It’s ridiculous to compare Macron to Hitler.
He’s more like the Antichrist, not Hitler...

after 18 months of ‘apartheid’ against urban and surburban senior citizens, I’m all for unvaccinated having to shelter in place until the pandemic blows over, the same as the unvaccinated demanded us old folks do. If you’re in a high risk area, go home, stay home, and we’ll assign ‘shopping hours’ for you, just like we had to do.

They’re old folks streets now - it’s our turn - and we want them back! Stop re-infecting old people and stop hiding behind the skirts of old people for protection. /rant

And they wonder why the church is dying.

It's obvious the "vaccines" are not as effective as advertised.

Otherwise, the "vaccinated" wouldn't be bitching so much, right?

Would that the bishops used their moral authority for good. Christ, save your Church which is falling to ruin.

The ones who demanded that old folks shelter in place are exactly the same as the ones trying to force the vaccine (which doesn't seem to work, btw) on everyone and who are now re-establishing lockdowns. You're shooting at the wrong side.

I've seen reports where the "vaccinated" are the ones responsible for the development of the variants.

Go figure.

The focus from the start of vaccinations and that was a positive, is about 80% of seniors are now vaccinated and their deaths are reduced to a trickle. A vaccine success story. But the affected age group slid younger with less elderly to infect.

I don't believe in forced cakes, forced weddings, forced vaccines or forcing seniors to remain paranoid about exposure to a large unprotected population. Which chooses not to follow their leadership, and are instead, both sides, yourself included, villanizing the vaccinated with the latest propaganda pitch that vaccines are 'poison' and the vaccines you sucker seniors took don't work kind of comments

WE seniors did what we were supposed to do, get vaccinated. Or those who chose not to got stocked, away from the public, waiting for the wind to blow south. We may have been out of sight 18 months but we're very much still here. There is a moral responsibility to protect the weak. But we have no moral responsibility to protect those who refuse to protect themselves. And since we're still higher-bracket taxpaying adults adverse to tax dollars funding $150K hospital rooms and $50K in experimental drugs for spoiled easily misled kids finding every excuse not to take a $10 vaccine that would prevent the majority of those costs, not to mention the lasting cost of what 'survival' actually means, we expect our kids and grandkids over 21 to shake themselves out of a state of notmyproblem situational denial and make the same responsible decision - fold or call, but you can't just sit there.

Over the past 18 months, I've gained a better understanding why seniors suddenly leave their estates to a random tiger sanctuary in Timbuktu.

villanizing the vaccinated with the latest propaganda pitch that vaccines are 'poison' and the vaccines you sucker seniors took don't work kind of comments

I'm sorry that such comments trouble you. But the facts are the facts. Watch what's happening in Israel which is ahead of us in terms of vaccinations. As seen in this article from The Jerusalem Post, "...the protection granted by the vaccine has been declining. Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine remains 91% effective against developing serious cases of the disease, while its effectiveness at stopping infection declined from between 90%-95% to 39%, the Health Ministry reported. The vaccine was found to be 40% effective against symptomatic COVID-19 and 88% effective against hospitalization, it said."

40% effective is a nice way of saying 60% ineffective.

I have zero problem with those in high-risk populations getting vaccinated. I also have no problem with anyone getting the vaccine voluntarily. But don't fool yourself into thinking that we know the long-term effectiveness and side-effects of this shot. As with everything COVID-related, "the science" is as often wrong as it is right. You may be comfortable encouraging your kids and grandkids to get this jab. But you should respect those who, in their own prudential judgement, decide to wait and see -- or take their chances with the bug.

The vaccines aren’t failing; they work beautifully towards the original wuhan and the early weaker variants. But the virus ate its spinach. It’s not your grandma’s virus any more. Those worried about ‘long term effects’ should pay a whole lot more attention to the real poison - the virus.

Israel broke the golden rule of herd immunity - close your herd until vaccinations are complete and quarantine all newcomers. Not that Biden is any smarter - 1500 positive covid at the southern border on one day can infect 38K in just 2 passes and 187K in 3 passes. Every border hospital in CA is maxed out. This is destroying the almost-there herd immunity of border states that the youth are trying to hide behind.

No vaccine has ever been 100%. Take JJ at 67% effective against symptoms. Out of 100 people with the same exact morbidities, compared to an identical 100 unvaccinated, of the total that become symptomatic, 33% will be JJ; so if 9 out of 200 got sick, 3 would be JJ. 33% sounds terrible, 3 out of 200 cancer patients not so much.

Same with Pfitzer at 40% against Delta in Israelis - it doesn’t mean 60% of all vaccinated will get symptoms but it does indicate a very high viral load in the environment putting repeat pressure on the vaccinated. As the vaccinated population increases, 40 unvaccinated patients out of 100 may represent a bigger percentage of the total unvaccinated, than the 60 is of the vaccinated population. An example: mortality for USA overall is 1.8% but for 30yos it’s .06% . Odds are a peer-group equation even in vaccines.

Grandma’s vaccine is still holding the line against hospitalization and death. We’ve pushed 2 million unvaccinated through the hospital at the expense of medical availability. If the 90 million (est) not vaccinated remain unvaccinated, and just say they’re all 30yo’ds, that’s still another 45K+ deaths and another 4 million hospitalizations, with maybe 10 million sick, forget anybody else. But at what point would resources be exhausted? Not just critical care, but followup therapies.

As to ‘respecting’, that’s a two way street some apparently don’t want to walk down. Unvaccinated should be just as gracious about sheltering for a month or three to prevent breakthrough infections, while more millions get vaccinated so there can actually be some sort of herd immunity for the youth to hide behind. As the rate of unvaccinated drops, so does the rate of breakthroughs.

again, just to contextualize, I’m in soCal lockdown hell where the pandemic never ends. We were just told that diagnostic hospital tests are again nixed and emergency surgeries only. So if you didn’t get your testing done between Apr and Jul against an existing backlog, or not critical but necessary surgery, you’re out of luck for the third flipping time. And who’s in our hospitals keeping the rest of us from medical care? Youth. 92-98% of capacity thru the state. What was that you were saying about respect? :)

You make it sound like nobody expected the virus to mutate and this is some huge surprise. It's not. And CDC claims on its website that the vaccines still "work" against the variants. Are they lying? Or are you misinformed? I'm guessing both.

But hey, blame the young people who are not really at risk for this thing at all and are doing you a favor by acquiring natural immunity which seems to be superior to the leaky vax. But your attitude is not uncommon among the Boomer generation. Your parents would have gladly sacrificed for your well-being. Boomers don't see things that way. They expect their grandkids to sacrifice for them, even now.
