A Michigan Catholic school is attempting to get in front of the mask mandate issue by arguing on religious liberty grounds in court
A court of appeals in Michigan will hear a case from a Catholic school arguing mask mandates violate religious liberty because they cover "God's image and likeness."
"Unfortunately, a mask shields our humanity and because God created us in His image, we are masking that image," the institution – the Resurrection School, in Lansing – told The Washington Post.
The suit additionally argues masks make students less social, less comfortable, and in some cases makes breathing more difficult.
"A mask is disruptive to this essential element of Catholic faith, and it is disruptive to the teaching of young children for these and other reasons," the school to The Post.
During a separate press interview, a school official said donning a mask "conveys the message that the wearer has surrendered his or her freedom to the government."
The school's pastor, the Rev. Steve Mattson, told WILX-TV in Lansing that there were no cases of in-school transmission at Resurrection last year, despite children in grade five and below never wearing masks.

Interesting idea but… no.
Adam was created in God’s image. We were created in Adam’s image, with the sin nature.
Good! A mask dehumanizes people and that definitely obscures the image of God.
They’re speaking the truth. One of the weird things I have heard from liberals, who are notoriously hateful and seem to want to avoid all human contact, is that they’d be happy never to have to smile at or talk to anybody ever again.
People who hate humanity also hate God, who made us in His Image and Likeness.
Good luck with that.
A mask obscures one’s individuality. That’s why authorities tend to demand them removed for passports and driver’s licenses. Communism aside, most religions take individuality to be an unstated axiom necessary to understand right and wrong, punishment and reward, for example.
However, I do not think image means nature, but a tripartite expression, spirit, soul and body; (1 Ths. 5:23)
and since the face of Moses was radiant because he had a spirit, soul and body;
and "God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ;" (2 Corinthians 4:6)
and Christ manifested God in 3-D, including via His countenance;
and science indicates that outside transmission is rare, as is fit (which we should be) and healthy people dying from Covid, and that recovered healthy persons should not need fear reinfection or be feared (low viral load);
then if we are to express what is in our hearts as Moses, the Lord and followers did, then we should oppose face masking outside, and inside as well, at least if recovered and healthy.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (John 11:44)
And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. (Acts 6:15)
But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. (1 Thessalonians 2:17)
I hope they succeed. Public schools suck.
Maybe the Catholics won’t teach anti-white racism, either.
‘mask mandates violate religious liberty because they cover “God’s image and likeness.”’
They’re making **** up and passing it off as Catholicism. For shame.
