No, this is just the Vatican doing damage control, since the USCCB went ahead and ignored their “advice.”
Whether the USCCB ultimately does anything that makes a difference is another matter. But you can bet the Vatican is going to be pretty busy behind the scenes attempting to head them off at the pass…although the Vatican minions may be a little more discreet this time.
