I thought so, too—and I HATE cats. The first day I met my future wife I ventured my opinion of what should be the fate of all cats: “they should be put in gunny-sacks, taken out beyond the three-mile limit, and dumped.” I was unaware that she had five cats and a dog. She ended up with one husband and a dog.

We had never owned a cat (nobody ever does, actually) until late last year.

We had a Chihuahua named Coco who had lived to be about 18 years old. She was so feeble, we had to take her out to do he business manually and hold her while she did.

One day, just before Coco died, a stray cat came up and while Coco was trying to do her business, the cat nuzzled her like they had been raised together all their lives. This was highly unusual for Coco who did not react at all! No cat was ever allowed to stay within 100 feet of the yard when Coco was healthy.

Coco died a couple of days later and the cat stayed with us ever since..........................
