If they are a baptized Catholic they are still a Catholic, just not an active and practicing Catholic.
Except when it comes to the Catholic caucus. Then we're ex-communicated. And no, I am not a Catholic now. I'm a "born from above" Christian. Christianity is not a religion, it's a personal relationship with Jesus. It doesn't require following a bunch of man made rules and regulations with a lot of pagan origins, hoping that I've done enough to be justified.

That speaks to man-made religions — not the Catholic Church which Jesus Christ founded on the apostles, the first Bishops.
How old is your church? Was it founded by a man or by Jesus Christ, fully divine and fully human — the second person of the Trinity?
