Phillie, your Adventist pastor is a bad showman with bad theology.

He claims the fig tree is Israel in 1948. Nope.

The verse in Matthew has Jesus say it will happen in “this generation to whom I am speaking to “

The reinterpretation of the word generation is just plain dishonest and inconsistent with the Greek word’s meaning. Jesus uses the phrase “this generation” many times, as does the rest of the New Testament. The word generation is used thirty-four times in the New Testament, and the phrase “this generation” is used twenty times. Without exception, it always refers to the people who were alive, listening to the speaker. In fact, Jesus uses this same word just a few verses before the Olivet Discourse to refer to His own generation. No one tries to reinterpret the meaning of this word on that occasion (Matt. 23:36).

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that He is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place” (Matt. 24:32–34).

the reason St. John did not include the Olivet Discourse in his Gospel was that the events surrounding 70 A.D. had already been fulfilled by that time.

Ours is not the generation of the fig tree. That generation is long dead.

Your post is historically and biblically false

1.the pagan Roman empire didn’t fall in 476 AD. The Roman empire was Christian from 378 AD when Theodosius made Christianity as the state religion.

1a. The Roman empire itself onoy fell in 1453 and was replaced by the great power called the Ottoman empire.

2. “Uproot 3 of the 10 kingdoms the roman empire collapsed into”?
The roman empire in 1453 was essentially just the city of constantinople. If you talk of the western empire, even after 476 AD the Goths acknowledged the emperor in Constantinople as the one sole emperor. Like the Zhou emperor in pre Chin China. In 476 ad the germanic tribes formed many cheifdoms within the western empire. Far more than 10 and they weren’t kingdoms.

3. “Geographically small nation”. The church isn’t a nation, even Vatican city ain’t a nation.

4. It will rule over.., even at the height of the papacy you had Kings in Paris, London etc, heck even the Hofenstadt emperors in Sicily flatly ignoring papal temporal statements.

Similarly you have utter bull that Catholics were not allowed to read the bible for themselves before vatican ii. Ever heard of chesterton?

Your Adventist propaganda is hilariously false, on par with your sister cult, the jehovah’s witnesses.

Just like your sister cult the jehovah’s witnesses gou too believe that Jesus is just the angel Michael

Revelation chapters 2 and 3 aren’t a history of the church. They are specific pastoral letters to specific churches in Anatolia.

The killing of the saints is clearly put as happened in the whore city of Jerusalem, the city where, as according to the book, the Lord was crucified.

It clearly goes on to describe the destruction of the whore city, Jerusalem, the city that rode the gentile pagan powerm the roman empire. But ultimately the beast, the roman empire burns and devoured the city of Jerusalem in 70 AD

Cronos, you don’t listen very well, do you? He is saying (says after a brief discussion of Matthew 24... “and basically the argument goes like this...”) that the PTR people say that the fig tree represents Israel (and he agrees with that, because that part of it is true) but then PTR’s say that the “BUDDING OF THE FIG TREE represents the reestablishment of State of Israel in 1948. And THEY believe that this is the greatest sign that Jesus is coming soon to rapture His church”, etc...

You are either mistaken (most likely), or you are again flat out LYING to anyone reading what you wrote, in another lame attempt to deflect the truth that the Catholic church is the Antichrist power, by belittling the SDA church, and people like me, that just won’t stop jamming that message down your throat. It’s the truth and deep down inside I think you know it, and it terrifies you.

Nope!

"Historians cannot agree on a single date or event that resulted in the final decline of the Roman Empire. This Empire faced external and internal forces over various centuries that gradually changed its original framework until the Roman Empire that once existed could no longer be considered the same. When pushed for a specific date, however, most historians cite 476 AD as the year the formal Roman Empire ceased to exist. This year is when the eastern half of the territory officially became the BYZANTINE Empire."

Again, nope!

The BYZANTINE empire in 1453 was essentially just the city of Constantinople. The Roman empire ended in 476.

Wrong, yet AGAIN!

“Vatican City, in full State of the Vatican City, Italian Stato della Città del Vaticano, ecclesiastical state, seat of the Roman Catholic Church, and an enclave in Rome, situated on the west bank of the Tiber River. Vatican City is the world’s smallest fully independent nation-state.”

Roman Catholic “Church” Prohibited Bible Reading

The following is excerpted from an article by David Cloud entitled, “The KJV and the Latin Vulgate”.

The Council of Trent (1545-1564) placed the Bible on its list of prohibited books, and forbade any person to read the Bible without a license from a Roman Catholic bishop or inquisitor. The Council added these words: “That if any one shall dare to read or keep in his possession that book, without such a license, he shall not receive absolution till he has given it up to his ordinary.”

Rome’s attempt to keep the Bible from men has continued to recent times. Pope Pius VII (1800-1823) denounced the Bible Society and expressed shock at the circulation of the Scriptures. Pius VII said, “It is evidence from experience, that the holy Scriptures, when circulated in the vulgar tongue, have, through the temerity of men, produced more harm than benefit.” Pope Leo XII called the Protestant Bible the “Gospel of the Devil” in an encyclical letter of 1824. Pope Gregory XVI (1831-1846) railed “against the publication, distribution, reading, and possession of books of the holy Scriptures translated into the vulgar tongue.” Pope Leo XII, in January 1850, condemned the Bible Societies and admitted the fact that the distribution of Scripture has “long been condemned by the holy chair.”

Again, YOU ARE CLEARLY WRONG!

Decree of the Council of Toulouse (1229 C.E.): “We prohibit also that the laity should be permitted to have the books of the Old or New Testament; but we most strictly forbid their having any translation of these books.”

Ruling of the Council of Tarragona of 1234 C.E.: “No one may possess the books of the Old and New Testaments in the Romance language, and if anyone possesses them he must turn them over to the local bishop within eight days after promulgation of this decree, so that they may be burned...”

Proclamations at the Ecumenical Council of Constance in 1415 C.E.: Oxford professor, and theologian John Wycliffe, was the first (1380 C.E.) to translate the New Testament into English to “...helpeth Christian men to study the Gospel in that tongue in which they know best Christ’s sentence.” For this “heresy” Wycliffe was posthumously condemned by Arundel, the archbishop of Canterbury. By the Council’s decree “Wycliffe’s bones were exhumed and publicly burned and the ashes were thrown into the Swift River.”

Fate of William Tyndale in 1536 C.E.: William Tyndale was burned at the stake for translating the Bible into English. According to Tyndale, the Church forbid owning or reading the Bible to control and restrict the teachings and to enhance their own power and importance.

The Roman empire itself only fell in 1453 and was replaced by the great power called the Ottoman empire.

-------------------------------------------------------

In his masterwork, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, historian Edward Gibbon selected 476 CE, a date most often mentioned by historians. That date was when Odoacer, the Germanic king of the Torcilingi, deposed Romulus Augustulus, the last Roman emperor to rule the western part of the Roman Empire. The eastern half became the Byzantine Empire, with its capital at Constantinople (modern Istanbul).

CRONOS IS WRONG AGAIN

Just like your sister cult the Jehovah’s witnesses you too believe that Jesus is just the angel Michael

I’ve never really looked into what that JW’s believe on anything, but it’s not like they are the antichrist power, AS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CLEARLY IS. Do they believe that Christ is just the angel Michael? I don’t know. But, I do know what the SDA church believes and I know it’s backed up by scripture.

You, painting the SDA church as just another wackadoo, cultist religion, is just another lame attempt to deflect what I bring out as the proven truth about the Catholic church. Maybe you think that by accusing SDA’s of believing Jesus is an angel will make others less likely to believe that your church, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, is the antichrist power, little horn, son of perdition, etc... ??? I rightly accuse you and you lash out to make your position seem stronger. You are again doing this by TELLING A LIE. You are well aware of my position (same as the SDA church) on Michael the Archangel and Jesus Christ. YET YOU STILL TELL THE LIE THAT WE BELIEVE JESUS IS JUST THE ARCHANGEL, MICHAEL. What else can you do but lie?

For anyone who still doesn’t know what SDA’s believe about Michael the Archangel...

“As this study shows, according to scriptures, Jesus is the angel of the LORD, the angel of God, the angel of the covenant, the Archangel Michael, who appeared time and again in the Old Testament to speak directly to His people. Michael is just another title for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, the principle messenger of the gospel (archangel) to humanity, BUT HE IS NOT A CREATED BEING.

http://aloha.net/~mikesch/michael.htm

And one of your own church saints said the EXACT SAME THING.

Bishop Melito of Sardis:

The Lord Jesus Christ is acknowledged as the perfect Reason, the Word of God; who was begotten before the light; who was Creator with the Father; who was the Fashioner of man; who was all things in all; Patriarch among the patriarchs, Law in the law, Chief Priest among the priests, King among the kings, Prophet among the prophets, ARCHANGEL AMOUNG THE ANGELS;

http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/hcc2.v.xv.xix.html

LOL, you and your church are so mixed up. You don’t know who’s saying what anymore.

Cronos: Maybe if I keep repeating this lie of SDA’s believing Jesus is just an angel (Michael), Phil will get off this Catholic church being the antichrist thing.

All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that he is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope.@ (Robert Bellarmine, Disputationes de Controversiis, Tom. 2, AControversia Prima@, Book 2 (ADe Conciliorum Auctoritate@ [On the Authority of Councils]), chap. 17 (1628 ed., Vol. 1, p. 266), translated

Pure blasphemy by the church of the Antichrist, the Catholic church.

Cronos: Nah, the SDA's believe that Jesus was just an angel. (LOL, funny, right?)
