Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 76

Psalm 76[a]

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.

1 God is renowned in Judah;
    in Israel his name is great.
2 His tent is in Salem,
    his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There he broke the flashing arrows,
    the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.[b]

4 You are radiant with light,
    more majestic than mountains rich with game.
5 The valiant lie plundered,
    they sleep their last sleep;
not one of the warriors
    can lift his hands.
6 At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot lie still.

7 It is you alone who are to be feared.
    Who can stand before you when you are angry?
8 From heaven you pronounced judgment,
    and the land feared and was quiet—
9 when you, God, rose up to judge,
    to save all the afflicted of the land.
10 Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,
    and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.[c]

11 Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
    let all the neighboring lands
    bring gifts to the One to be feared.
12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;
    he is feared by the kings of the earth.

Hallowed and Holy and Sanctified
is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy,

You, The One True God.
The Ancient Of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
and Rock of All Ages,
Are The Same Yesterday,

Your Steadfast Love Never Ceases.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

"Motorcycle Years" are like Dog Years, and, at the age of 30, my Harley-Davidson 93FXR is considered an "Antique", a "Collectable", and a "Classic." I suppose that's appropriate, because her Rider may also be considered those things. Both Blue and I are still going strong, but both of us require periodic maintenance. Since Blue has been "marking her spot" with Primary Case Oil everywhere we go, I knew it was time to replace her lower gaskets.

Al, my mechanic, said he could do it for me this week, but might not get it done in time for Memorial Day. He had to fix a whole bunch of Vets' bikes so they could go to DC for the weekend.

That's OK," I replied. "Do the Vets' Bikes first. Blue and I have NINE Rolling Thunders under out belts, so we won't be going this year."

Back in the 1990's my husband and I attended 8 Rolling Thunder Rides from Boston, and one from Florida. Many times we would also take our vacation that week and ride around Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, visiting Museums, Civil War Battlefields, and sightseeing in Washington DC. Those were great times, and I still have the T-Shirts.

Today's Psalm speaks of the Valiant, who lie in their graves. This Memorial Day, let us all remember those who gave their last full measure of devotion to preserve our freedoms. We should never take our Freedoms lightly, knowing what they cost.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
