How We Can Absolutely KNOW Absolutely That We Are Saved:
By JAG
(written for my grand grandchildren ~ May 17, 2021)
All we Christians need to have the assurance of our salvation. A large number of we Christians, in the past at times, have struggled against doubt. The problem is this: Sometimes we feel like we're saved and sometimes we feel like maybe we're not saved ~ or at least we have some doubts that enter our minds. The solution to this problem is to never trust your feelings on this issue because your feelings will change with the wind. Your feelings will go from high's to low's based on the changing winds of circumstances. Instead of trusting in your feelings on this issue, put all your trust in God's Word which never changes and God has said clearly and specifically that we can KNOW for certain that we are saved. And God does not tell lies. He always tells the truth. So? So "have faith in God" and KNOW that you are saved.
("Have faith in God"__The Lord Jesus in Mark 11:22)
■ "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:13
"SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE"
■ "My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who gave them to me is greater that all, and no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand." John 10:27-28
"THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH"
■ "We KNOW that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other." 1 John 3:14
"WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE PASED FROM DEATH TO LIFE"
■ "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
"SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE."
■ "Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys My word will never see death" {that is, spiritual death ~ being lost} John 8:51
"WILL NEVER SEE DEATH"
■ "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24
"WILL NOT BE JUDGED BUT HAS CROSSED OVER FROM DEATH TO LIFE"
■ "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die." John 11:25-26
"WILL LIVE, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIE . . . WILL NEVER DIE"
■ "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
"WILL FORGIVE US OUR SINS"
■ "For I am convinced that neither death not life, neither angles or demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
{NOTHING IN THE UNIVERSE CAN) "SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD"
So if you ever have any doubts that you are saved, immediately read those Bible verses up there and KNOW that you are saved. If Satan ever tries to convince you that you are not saved, read those Bible verses up there and KNOW that you are saved.
God Bless.

Maybe we’ll find out at the moment of death, but I’m betting on it.
We don’t know til we’re there. That’s all.
Unfortunately he’s right.
Bible talks clearly about those who were certain they were saved until they arrived at he other side.
I have faith I’m saved... I just can’t figure out how or why I deserve it so I feel guilt over what had to happen to ensure it.
It is good that we know the saving power of Christ, and that nothing can overcome his love for us; nothing can rob us of his salvation. But whereas a holy soul can find faith in these quotes, a soul still mired in sin can yield to the sins of pride and presumption when reading them out of context. So allow me to add to your righteous work.
You quote John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
But in context, John 5 says, “every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.... 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.”
Do you work such wonders? Have you broken no commandments? Unless we are sinless (we aren’t) and work miracles like bringing people back from the dead, we must “work on our faith in fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2). The proud mind sees this as a paradox; the humble mind knows he is still a sinful creature.
You say 1 John 3 says, “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.”
But 1 John 3 in context says:
“He that loveth not his brother abideth in death... Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
Have you laid down your life for your brother? What do you sacrifice for the sake of your brothers? Do you even offer reparation, such as prayer and fasting for those who sin against you? (I am a hypocrite... I do this too rarely.)
You have kept enough context in 1 John 1:19 “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” That’s a huge conditional (”IF”). Do you confess all your sins? Perhaps some confessions may hurt others, and it may be prudent to confess them in private to a President of the Congregation. But do you fear shame, embarrassment, humiliation, loss of prestige if you confess your sins openly?
Don’t sin boldly. Sin begets more sin. Confess boldly.

1 John 3:16 - By this we know . .

1 John 4:13 - By this we know . .

Hebrews 6:4-6 “For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they then commit apostasy, since they crucify the Son of God on their own account and hold him up to contempt.”
1 Corinthians 9:27 “…but I punish my body and enslave it, so that after proclaiming to others I myself should not be disqualified.”
2 Timothy 2:12 “if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us;”
Philippians 2:12 “Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Matt 24:12 “And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
1 Corinthians 4:4 “I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.”
PERFECTLY put!
Jesus himself said similar things. The biblical truth is, we can have moral assurance of salvation based on the faithfulness of God, but we can never have absolute assurance because even as redeemed and conditionally saved believers, we still have free will to turn aside from God in disobedience with the possibility of dying in unrepentance. Jesus is not only our Savior, he is also our Lord.
You cannot KNOW, because knowledge requires reason and you can not use logic to KNOW GOD.
Faith in GOD is all that is required and we are all weak sinners, so sometimes our Faith waivers.
I've been a believer for over 70 years, but there have been many times when I turned my back on GOD, only to be very sorry that I did.
Pray, and keep the Faith.
Romans 8:1-39 ESV
[1] There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. [3] For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, [4] in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. [5] For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. [6] For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. [7] For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. [8] Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. [10] But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [11] If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. [12] So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. [13] For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [14] For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. [15] For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” [16] The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. [18] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. [19] For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. [20] For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope [21] that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. [22] For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. [23] And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. [24] For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? [25] But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. [26] Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. [27] And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. [28] And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. [29] For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. [30] And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. [31] What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? [32] He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? [33] Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. [34] Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. [35] Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? [36] As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” [37] No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. [38] For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, [39] nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Arrggh! lost formatting. Well, the verse numbers do help.
We can believe it and have faith in His promises, but we can never take it for granted, because we can slip up.
Never take it for granted.
By knowing Jesus is your life now..he is eternal, you are one, stay away from fake Latin mass cults, traditional catholic cults galore, the one in Dilwyn, va is antisemitic..they preach they have replaced the Jewish people..in Christ we are Jewish
No.
“Now faith is the substance of things expected,
the evidence of things not seen.” Heb 11:1
NASB - (see the footnotes)
No “leap” is required if it’s a rock-solid promise from God.
Right. It’s a promise. But you have to do something and take that step to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior.
