Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Mighty and Glorious,
Eternal,
Immortal,
and Almighty!
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Most Humble Worship!
For You Alone Are The Most High!
Shout Unto the LORD with Gladness,
Serve Him With Joy,
For He is The One True God Of Abraham,
And The One Who Delivers Us from Our Enemies!

1. Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.
2. From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3. For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
4. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

Oh LORD, Some trust in Chariots,
and some in horses,
But we depend on the name of Our God!

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lumaha'i Beach, on the Island of Kauai, was the setting for a scene in the movie South Pacific. It was on this beautiful beach of sand and black rocks that Nellie "washed that man right out of her hair", and the tour books are always quick to point that out. They do not point out, however, that sometimes there is a nasty riptide on that particular beach.

In 1991, Mike and I were in Hawaii for the first time, driving around on that beautiful island. There's only one road going around, so it is impossible to get lost, and all we had was the map provided with the rental car.

"Oh look!" I exclaimed. "That's Lumaha'i Beach where they filmed "South Pacific! Let's go for a swim!"

The fact that we were all alone, and that no Local People were swimming there, should have been a clue that, while the beach may have been perfect for filming, it probably wasn't so good for swimming. But, being "Malihini" (First-Time Visitors), that thought didn't occur to us. So we parked the car by the side of the road and went in.

Almost immediately, I felt the ocean pulling me lengthwise down the beach. While an undertow pulls a person OUT, a Riptide pulls you sideways. It was overwhelming, as if the entire force of the Planet was pulling me along. I was able to grab a big black rock that stuck up out of the water, and pulled myself up onto the beach. Then Mike and I had to walk barefoot at least 3/4 of a mile back to the car. Perhaps there should have been a sign that said "NO SWIMMING". Or maybe there was a sign, but we ignored it!

In subsequent visits to the Island, we would again drive by Lumaha'i Beach, but realized that it is for photo-shoots only in that location!

No matter how strong we think we are, we can be easily overwhelmed by the weight of the world. There was not a man more "in tune" with God than David, and yet, he got overwhelmed many times. It is in those times we have to cling to the Rock, that is higher than any of us!

And, while we are at it, it helps to wash that "old man", the deceiver, the one who likes to overwhelm us, RIGHT OUT OF OUR HAIR!
