You may be familiar with the word “bork” — which one online dictionary defines as to “obstruct (someone, especially a candidate for public office) through systematic defamation or vilification.” That, as you might remember, happened to District of Columbia Court of Appeals judge Robert Bork back in 1987 after Ronald Reagan nominated him for the Supreme Court that summer. As his wife, Mary Ellen Bork, recalls, “after a monstrous political battle, he resigned from the court in 1988 so that he could write about his legal and cultural views and speak with more freedom than he could if he remained on the court.” And indeed liberated, Judge Bork wrote bestselling books, including Slouching toward Gomorrah, which was published 20 years ago this year [2016].
McCarthyism was named after Sen. Joe McCarthy and not his victims/targets.
Borking should’ve been callied Kennedyism and forever stained Ted Kennedy’s name (this beyond his partnering with the KGB to try to influence the 1984 election to defeat Ronald Reagan).
Fortunately I have this book titled “Slouching towards Gomorrah” Great book. I have absolutely nothing against gays or lesbians as I believe, to each his or her own, and I knew people who were gays and about the nicest people you want to meet. But once they get in your face insinuating you just have to approve their life style and advertise it to boot, come hell and high water, that’s where I draw he proverbial line.
